Daniel Joseph Geray

Daniel Joseph Geray, 41, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Daniel was born on November 21, 1980 in El Paso, TX to Roger Loren Geray and Donna Gayle Robinson. 
In his civilian career, Daniel worked in the health care field as an X-Ray Technician. During his military career, he served as an Infantryman, a Field Medic/X-Ray Specialist, and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator. He also served in the California National Guard and was proud of his role in fighting California wildfires. He viewed himself as a Viking warrior and competed in the Army’s Best Warrior Competition. The Best Warrior Competition tested both Daniel’s physical and mental skills, including writing skills. Daniel’s ability to inspire with words was exceptional, and he won the essay portion of the competition at the state level. 

Daniel was a beloved son, a caring brother, and a loving father. He was especially proud of his children and loved to share stories about his time with them. His stories always included praise for their accomplishments, no matter how large or small. He is survived by both of his parents; two sons, Joshua Benjamin Geray of CA and Ian Cassius Mendoza of NM; one daughter, Anais Danielle Pacheco of NY; two sisters, Kristina Suzanne Long and Amanda Gayle Geray both of NM and two grandchildren, Gabriel Jay Pacheco and Melody Christine Pacheco.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 1-4pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

​Cremation will then take place at Terrazas Crematory. 
 Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

Elfido Arguello

Elfido Arguello, 87, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, April 20, 2022 at University Medical Center in El Paso, TX.  He was born February 17, 1935 in Chamizal, NM to Eliud Arguello and Eliziada Lovato.
Elfido was a very dedicated and loving family man, who always had an extremely positive outlook on life.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1959 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5), all while serving overseas in Panama.  Elfido was a very hard-working Copper Miner as he worked for Asarco Mines in Grant County for many years.  He was also very mechanically inclined and a talented welder fabricator who could build practically anything from scratch, oftentimes without any type of blueprints or plans.  His hobbies included welding, gardening and leathercrafting.  His beautiful works of art were enjoyed by family and friends, throughout the community.  Finally, he was a very influential and active member of the local Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter and his caring soul will be truly missed.
 
He is survived by three sons, Richard Fieldcamp and wife Wanda of Douglas, WY; Dale Arguello and wife Tamara of Faywood; Aaron Abel Arguello and wife Jennifer of Daleville, AL; four daughters, Tamara Arguello and husband Dale of Faywood; Ann Franz and husband Mike of Acton, CA; Bobbie Herrick and husband Jim of Douglas, WY; Dawn Armstrong and husband Clifford of Quemado, NM; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Felix Arguello and wife Rosella; John Edward Arguello of Silver City; Allen Arguello and wife Mary of Silver City; two sisters, Eloisa Vasquez of Alcade, NM and Sofie Arana.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Louise Adams Arguello (’10); two brothers, Joe and Eliud Arguello; one sister, Dora Garcia.
 
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 29th at 9:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Joseph Gros officiating.  Concluding service and inurnment with full military honors will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where both, Elfido and Louise will be laid to rest. 
 
Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.

Sandra Lopez Madrid

Sandra Lopez Madrid, 48, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Albuquerque, NM. 

She was born September 14, 1973 in Silver City NM, to Jesse A. Lopez and Carmen Chavira Lopez.  She is survived by her mother Carmen Lopez, two sons, David Gonzales and Jesse Madrid (Zaylene); two daughters Ashanti Madrid and Monique Gonzales (Samuel Aguirre); four grandchildren, Kyshae Aguirre, Joe Aguirre, Serenity Rose Aguirre and Zejay Madrid; one brother Johnny Lopez (Annette); two sisters, Sonya Wood and Evangeline Lopez (Frankie); and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father Jesse Lopez and her husband Billy Madrid. 

Sandra enjoyed rides in the mountains, camping and being outdoors.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother and was a very giving person.  She had a very big heart and will be greatly missed.

A memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 2, at 2:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with family member Ruben Chavira officiating.  Concluding service and inurnment will be at Memory Lane Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her father.

Michael Anthony Lang

Michael Anthony Lang, 47, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.  He was born March 9, 1975 in Miami, AZ to Harvey Lang and Lillian Morelos-Stewart.

Anthony was such an amazing, kind hearted person with lots of love in his heart for everyone. He loved his wife Anessa, mom Lillian, step dad Anthony and his family very much. He loved to socialize, it didn't matter where he was at or what he was doing he always made time to go and say hello and ask how you were doing. Anthony was a 4th Degree Knight, representing his native culture. A Chiricahua Apache he had love for his culture and his faith was strong and loved being catholic, making his cursillo and gaining many brothers and sisters in Christ. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved music and had vocals for singing. He was very talented at the instruments he played, from his saxophone, piano, drums and even guitar.  He loved to dance, cumbias were his favorite. The joy he brought everyone with his passion and love for music, It feed his soul to watch all of us get down to the backyard boogie, the electric slide to Los Kumbia Kings, two stepping the Alan Jackson all the way down to the Chattahoochee. When Stylin' Base was on the scene, it was on and poppin!  From weddings to college night at the Buff and Drifter, quinceaneras, birthdays, anniversary, grad parties and all the in between he was known as "Dj Langster."  God sent for his strongest warrior. you will be missed. We’ll make sure the Music doesn't stop, so rest easy and until we meet again. We Love You!
 
He is survived by his parents, Harvey Lang of San Carlos Reservation; Lillian Stewart and husband Anthony of Silver City; his loving wife, Anessa E. Lang of the family home; one step-daughter, Juliet Lozito of Beaumont, CA; step-brother, Rodney Stewart and wife Tammie of San Carlos Reservation; his four special aunts Jane Gutierrez (Jesse), Ida Salas (CJ), Dodie Gonzales (Jerry), Raqui Dominguez; his special uncle Eusebio “Junior” Salas;  his mother in law Dolores Pedroza, his brother in law David Pedroza (Racheal) his Godchildren, Savannah Sierra of Bayard; Manny “Cookie” Jaurequi of Silver City.  He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother, Camila Gomez; paternal grandmother, Ruth Stewart; two cousins, Eusebio “JR” Salas and Jason Ornelas; one uncle, Alfonso Ornelas.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 6th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to commence at 6pm with Carmen Terrazas reciting.  The funeral mass will take place Saturday, May 7th at 10am at St. Vincent Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating.  Pallbearers are Will Sierra, Freddy Bencomo, David Pedroza, Michael Bejarano, Ruben Terrazas, Chris Salas.  Honorary pallbearers are Luis Palacios, Alex Torres, James Verdugo, and Chris Lucero.

 Jean was born in Gervais, Oregon to Fred and Constance Manning .  She was the 13th of 14 children, and the youngest girl in the family.  She is survived by one brother, Denny Manning and one sister, Donna Schott .
 Jean was married February 20, 1954 and at 86 she celebrated her 68th Wedding Anniversary. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Gerald Eldon Lenhardt.
 Jean was mom to four children Brad, Wendy, Randy, and Rick. She was blessed with 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
 A Rosary will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 6 pm Baca’s Funeral Home, 811 S. Gold Ave, Deming NM 88030.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Holy Family Catholic Church, 615 Copper Street, Deming, NM 88030.  Fr. Prakasham Babu, Pastor will officiate.

Pete R. Marquez

Pete R. Marquez passed away in his home on April 4, 2022 at the age of 70.  Pete was born in Santa Rita on Feb. 21, 1952 to Pedro and Concepcion Marquez.  He was proud to say that he was “Born in Space.” 
 
Pete is survived by his companion Kathie Rico, daughter Monica Lopez (David), sons P.J. (Cheryl) and Armando Marquez, step-daughter Jessica Garcia, step-sons Tommy Joe Garcia (Rachel), and Christopher Garcia(Courtney).  He was a very proud grandpa to thirteen grandkids and three great-grandsons.   He is also survived by his sisters Ermie Placencio (Nestor) and Rosemary Lopez (Robert), and one brother Tommy Marquez (Cheryl), and numerous nieces and nephews.   
 
Pete is preceded in death by his loving wife Joey, his daughter Rosella, his parents, brother Casey Marquez, and son Roman.    
 
Pete was retired from the NM National Guard, retired from WNMU, and worked for Phelps Dodge for over 20 years.   He was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan ever!  He loved spending time with his family and friends to watch a football game.  He grew up playing baseball and even won the state championship in 1971 while playing at Cobre High.  He passed on his love of baseball to his kids and to his grandkids.  If it wasn’t football season, you could find him at baseball games watching his grandkids, nieces, and nephews.   
 
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12th at 5:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Rosary to follow at 6:00pm officiated by Deacon Art Gutierrez.  A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 13th at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating.  Concluding the service, cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.  Pete will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in the Hanover Cemetery on Wednesday, April 13th at 4pm.  Pallbearers are Joseph Marquez, Ray Lopez, Michael Lopez, Tommy Marquez, Nicholas Marquez and Sam Molina.

Damian Martinez, 57, a resident of Lake Roberts, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 4, 1965 in Las Cruces, NM to Tiburcio Reynel Martinez and Isabel A. Macias.

Damian spent much of his youth between Bayard and Santa Fe while attending school and enlisted in the United States Navy where he received Veteran’s status and proudly served his country. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and outdoor excursions. He lived life on his terms and did not let anything deter him once he made his mind up about something. Many of us will miss his long calls with all the stories he had to tell.

He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Evans and wife Carol of Salem, MA; Damian Martinez of Bayard; one daughter, Victoria Martinez-Emerson and husband John of AL; four grandchildren, Henry, Ali, Melissa, and Jason; two brothers, Alejandro Del Llano and wife Debbie of Mammoth, AZ; Danny Martinez of Santa Fe, NM; four sisters, Adelida Martinez of Bayard; Tomasita Chavez and husband Eliseo of Santa Fe, NM; Eliza Martinez and husband Tony of Santa Fe; Annabell Ortiz and husband Alex of Rio Rancho, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 12th at 11:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Lopez, Angel Arzola, John Emerson, Alejandro Del Lano, Brian Chavez and Eric Arsola.

Alfonso Rodriguez Rios, 94, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his home.

Alfonso was born on June 11, 1927 to Francisco Rios and Manuela Rodriguez in San Buenaventura, Chihuahua, Mexico. Alfonso is survived by three sons, Alfonso Ruben Lujan of Deming, NM; Arthur Lujan and his companion Raquelle of Tucson, AZ and Alfonso Rios Jr. of El Paso, TX; four daughters, Olga Rodriguez of Deming NM; Guadalupe Terry Lujan Muñoz and her companion Robert Relyea of Deming, NM; Vanessa Lujan Rios Deming, NM and Mirana Blances Rios of El Paso, TX; one sister, Ramona Rios of El Paos, TX and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He is proceeded in death by both of his parents; his wife; Herminia “Minnie” Lujan; one son, Victor Lujan and one daughter, Irma Lujan.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 10-11am with the holy rosary beginning at 11am with Lucy Villegas officiating at Terrazas Funeral Chapel.

Funeral mass will then begin at 12noon at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father, Jesus Martinez officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Ann R. Cox, 76, went to be with God on April 3rd, 2022. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family after suffering from an extended illness. She was born on December 29, 1945 in Gorman, TX to Jack and Ethel Robinson. She was the oldest daughter of four kids and their early years were enjoyed on the family ranch in Capitan, NM. This is where her love of music and art began as she started playing the piano at age 5 and drawing and painting the surrounding landscapes she so loved.

She graduated salutatorian from Capitan High School. After high school she attended UNM and studied science and multiple languages. She later went on to graduate from WNMU with a BA in fine arts and a MAT in secondary education with a minor in fine arts. From there she taught art and Spanish at Cliff High School, and substitute taught science at several local schools. She was a long-time fan and voracious reader of all things science fiction and fantasy which led her to a career in science fiction and fantasy art where she traveled throughout the South West to show her art.

A long-time resident of Silver City, she met the love of her life, Patrick W. Cox and they married on December 5th, 1987. They enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling to art shows and museums all over the world.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Lavota Williams (1986), her baby sister, Kathy Ruth McMullan (1994), her father, Jack Robinson (2009), and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick W. Cox of Silver City, her daughter, Rae Ellyn Robinson (Lubbock, TX) and her three children Matthew, Jordan, and Rianna. Daughter, Heather Lynn Mansy and husband Pascal (Woodland, WA) and their two sons Kieran and Kaeson. Jane Cox and Jennifer Kirkpatrick (Silver City) and their three children Samuel, Angel, and Denise. Her son Jimmy Cox and wife Laverne and their three children, Billy, Tyler, and Crystal. Her sister Virginia Robinson (Silver City, NM). Her brother Jack W. Robinson and wife Leslie (Morton, TX). Eleven great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 11:00am at Terrazas Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Joseph Gros. Concluding service, interment will take place at the Masonic Cemetery.

Oliver W. “Pete” Perry

Oliver W. “Pete” Perry, 86, passed away at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces on Jan. 31, 2022.

e is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Carol (nee Fassett). Pete was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Cabot, Vt. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953-56. In 1958, he and Carol moved to Massachusetts where Pete worked at the Smith Farm in West Boylston, the Howland Farm in New Braintree and Salem Bros. Transport in North Brookfield. He retired from Chase Precast in 1998. He enjoyed another 17 years working with Phil Jurczyk of Jurczyk Contracting in Gilbertville, Mass. Pete and Carol moved from New Braintree to Bayard in 2015. He worked for a few memorable years with Ron Edwards at Septic Solutions. Pete reveled in the sun and warmth. When he finally retired, he took pleasure in regular walks with the dogs on the mesa, daily phone visits with his brother, Jerry, and, like clockwork, Sunday calls from his deck recliner to family and friends near and far. Pete was a hard and happy worker, a reliable and well-respected longtime treasured friend and neighbor. He would offer the shirt off his back to strangers, a beacon of goodness, humility and optimism. His departure leaves a true void in the hearts and minds of many. Pete leaves six children, Ellen Robbins of Bayard, Allen of Easley, S.C., Cindy Morse (Edward) of Russellville, Ky., Sandy Killough (David) of Greenville, S.C., Linda Grace of Brunswick, Ga., and Brian (Robin) of Piedmont, S.C. He had one infant son, Hayden Oliver, who predeceased him in 1957. He leaves five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Jerry, of Richland, Wash., a sister, Elsie, of Cheshire, Mass.; and a cousin, Nettie, of Cabot, Vt. There will be no calling hours. Pete’s remains will be rested at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Oliver Perry will be laid to rest at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, Burial of Cremains with Honors will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11:00am.

Cremation has taken place at Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.
