Rebecca A. Maynes-Ortiz blessed this world on May 27, 1969 in Deming, NM by Armando Maynes and Mary Lou Maynes.

She departed us unexpectedly on January 10, 2018 as she was needed elsewhere to celebrate with Armando Maynes (her father), Mary Lou Maynes (her mother) and Jonathan Maynes (her son).  Heaven needed a vibrant, happy and outgoing personality in its fold.  While she had many joys in life, her top priorities were her husband and daughters.  She loved them unconditionally and being with them provided her with immense happiness.

Becca also loved to cook and was a master at preparing delicious meals.  She let everyone know that she was the “best cook” and we all let her believe that.  She enjoyed getting her family together as she was the catalyst in gathering everyone to eat, drink and just be happy.  Rebecca always made everyone feel at home, she would dance and laugh with her nieces and nephews while hosting backyard barbeques.  She was feisty, argumentative, loving and a fierce presence in life, which will be greatly missed, but we fully expect to feel that presence in the future. She is survived by her loving husband, Antonio Ortiz of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Kirsten Gutierrez of Las Cruces, NM and Evangelina Ortiz of Las Cruces, NM; two brothers, Armando Maynes Jr. and his wife Jeanie of Sulphur, LA and Paul Maynes and his companion Brenda Lewis of Deming, NM; three sisters, Jean “Desi” M. Garcia and her husband Jaime of Deming, NM; Cristy Ruiz and her husband Mike of Albuquerque, NM and Marcy Maynes-Tarango and her husband Joel of Deming, NM; Matt and Andrew Holguin who she holds a special place for them in her heart.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her son, Jonathan Maynes.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 5-6pm with the holy rosary beginning at 6pm with Carmen Terrazas officiating at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2pm at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father, Ron Machado officiating.
