Lois Frances Bryant

LOIS FRANCES BRYANT, 97, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Saturday July 22, 2017 at her home.

Family and friends will celebrate her life on Monday July 31, 2017 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Mason Davis and Mr. Tom Austin officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Lois was born February 5, 1920 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to David and Gertrude (Hedrick) Gray.  She came to Deming with her family in 1935.  Lois lived in California for a short time and eventually she moved to Las Cruces where she worked as a Clerk with the New Mexico Income Support Division until her retirement.  She always considered Deming home and came back in 1999 to be near her family.  Lois was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Norman Pelayo and wife Dot of Tucson, their daughters Kathy Pelayo and  children, Brandi Allgood and Olivia Osborn,  Brenda Huffman and daughter Valerie Huffman. Her daughter Virginia Marcak of Deming and children, Brad Marcak and children Kristen Grado and husband Will and their daughter Ryleigh Grado, Nikki Marcak, and Tony Cabello. Terri Austin and husband Tom and children Caitlin and Josh Austin. Lori Molina and husband Daniel and their son Julian Molina. Her sister Margie Madlock of Deming.

Pallbearers will be Tom and Josh Austin, Brad Marcak, Allen Myers, Will Grado and Norman Pelayo.

Enrique Perales Morenos

Enrique Perales Morenos, 80, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in El Paso, TX. Enrique was born on July 15, 1937 in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico to Selso Perales and Karetina Morenos.

​He is survived by his wife, Maria Cruz Perales of Deming, NM; three sons, Martin Perales of Deming, NM; Raul Perales of Phoenix, AZ and Carlos Perales of Phoenix, AZ; three daughters, Rosalie Perales and her companion Ali Navabi of Tucson, AZ; Susana Perales Valenzuela and her husband Victor of Tucson, AZ and Cruzita Perales Parra of Tucson, AZ; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both of his parents. 

Visitation will be on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4-5pm with the holy rosary beginning at 5pm with Maria S. Lozano officiating at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. A graveside service will then take place on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 12noon at Mountain View cemetery with Father, Manuel Ibarra officiating.

Emilia Orozco Vallejo

Emilia Orozco Vallejo, 66, Deming resident passed Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
 
Visitation will be Tuesday July 25, 2017 at 5 o'clock in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapel   Funeral services will be there as well Wednesday July 26, 2017 at 10 o'clock with  Paul Hernandez of the Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses presiding.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. 
 
Emilia was born June 18, 1951 to Maria Bernabel Flores and Refugio Orozco in Tepames, Colima, Mexico.  On May 24, 1974, she married Ruben V. Vallejo in Los Angeles, California.  The couple moved to Deming in 1994 coming from San Diego, California. 
 
Survivors include 3 sons, Ricardo Vallejo and wife Maria Alejandra of Deming, Yvan Vallejo of Florida, Jafet Vallejo of Deming; daughter, Priscilla Hutchison and husband Lige of Deming; 2 brothers, Pedro and Refugio Orozco; 3 sisters, Elena, Alicia and Concepcion; 6 grandchildren.
 
Emilia was preceded in death by parents, Refugio and Maria Orozco; husband, Ruben Vallejo and brother, Jose Orozco and a grandchild.
 
Serving as pallbearers are Damian, Diego, Ricardo and Juan Vallejo, Pedro and Refugio Orozco.

Joe "Oleo" Milo Jr.

Joe “Oleo” Milo Jr., 56, lifelong Deming resident passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.
 
Visitation will begin Monday morning, July 24, 2017 at 9 o’clock in the morning at Holy Family Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 9:30 led by Eddie Diaz.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o’clock with Fr. Ronald Machado, Pastor, officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
 
“Oleo” as he was affectionately known, was born April 18, 1961 to Olga Madrid and Joe Milo Sr. in Deming.  He was a graduate of Deming Public Schools and was involved with the operation of the family business, J & J Printing, until his death.  Oleo was first elected to represent Luna County Commission District 1 in November of 2010 and was re-elected to a second four-year term in November of 2014. He served as chair of the commission in 2015.  Oleo coached his children throughout T-Ball, Little League and softball.  He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and was one of the founders of the Florida Bowhunters Archery Club. A most important part of his life was enjoying his grandchildren and serving in the political arena. 
 
Oleo is survived by wife, Anna Milo of the home; father, Joe L. Milo Sr. (Tina) of Deming; 3 sons, Michael Milo and wife Connie of Bayard, Christopher Milo and wife Mariana of Las Cruces, Aaron Milo and wife Danielle of Deming; daughter, Jessica Milo and husband Jesse Lucero of Las Cruces; sisters, Irma and Sandy Milo of Deming; 12 grandchildren, EJ, Michael Jr., Alec, Jazmine, Jamie Jo, Juliana, Christopher Jr., Isaac, Aaron Jr. and Mikayla Milo, Jesse Jr. and Jacob Lucero.  Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by mother, Olga Milo; maternal grandparents, Jose and Rosa Madrid; paternal grandparents, Gonzalo and Maria Milo and in-laws, Ed and Isabel Hooten.
 
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael, Christopher, Aaron and EJ Milo, Jesse and Jesse Lucero Jr.  Honorary pallbearers named are Michael Jr., Alec, Jazmine, Jamie Jo, Juliana, Christopher Jr., Isaac, Aaron Jr., Mikayla Milo and Jacob Lucero.

Dolores "Lola" Valverde

Dolores “Lola” Valverde, 76, lifelong Deming resident passed away peacefully Monday July 17, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces surrounded by her family.
 
Visitation will begin Saturday morning, July 22, 2017 at 9:30 at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 10 o’clock led by Ralph Montano.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 with Fr. Manuel Ibarra, Pastor, officiating.  Music will be led by Matthew Seltzer and Victor Cabrera.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. 
 
“Lola”, as she was affectionately known, was born September 7, 1940 to Maria Alderete and Eusebio Montaño in Deming.  She retired from Deming Public Schools after 29 years of service. She worked in many different departments, but, was most fond of the bilingual program.  Lola was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, Apostolado, Good News Prayer Group and Women’s Aglow. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, shopping and reading.  She will be remembered for her hospitality, serving her community and the love for her family.
 
Lola is survived by husband, Albert Valverde of the home; son, Alberto Eusebio Valverde of Deming; 2 daughters, Lisa Michelle Ochoa and husband Gabriel of Las Cruces and Marnie Green and husband Corey of Orlando, FL; 2 brothers, Victor Montaño and wife Marcie of Deming and Ralph Montaño of Las Cruces; 2 sisters, Luisa Quarrell of Santa Clara and Annie Camuñez and husband Freddie of Livermore, CA; 7 grandchildren, Gloria Valverde, Tricia Ochoa, Amanda Ochoa, Gabriel Julian Ochoa, Christian Green (Liz), Allana and Jacob Green and 2 great-grandchildren, Zeke and Bianca.
 
She was preceded in death by parents, Eusebio and Maria Montaño; brothers, Manny, Tony and Danny Montaño. 
 
Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Julian Ochoa, David, David Angel and Ruben Montano, Eddie Lee Holguin and Adrian Sanchez.  Honorary pallbearers named are Christian, Jacob and Corey Green and Gabriel G. Ochoa.

Judy Ann Palmer Williams

Judy Ann Palmer Williams, 60, of Deming, entered into eternal rest on July 12, 2017 after a long illness. Judy was born on January 18, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to Mary Faith Harden Palmer and John Clyde Palmer. Her family moved to Deming when Judy was 12 years old. Judy spent most of her life caring for others, was a giving and loving person, and as a mother always put her children first.
 
Memorial services for Judy will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
 
Judy was adored by her family and leaves behind her children Shawna Williams and her fiancé DeVarl Cooper of El Paso, Texas; Heather Williams Arroyos and her fiancé Rodney Anderson of Deming; Thomas Williams Jr. (Tommy) and his wife Tammy of Alamogordo; Jennifer Williams (Nicki) and her fiancé Harley O’Connor of Deming; Adam Palmer and his wife Jesica of Deming. Her grandchildren Tamaya, Samuel, Leah, Caleb, Bianca, James, Douglas, Hannah, Tatum, Thomas III (Rooster), Sierra, Nathan, Shawna (Fatso), and Bella, and her great-grandchildren, Madeline and Izabelle. She is survived by her sister Deborah Palmer and Debbie’s children Cornell and Amanda; and brothers John and Keith Palmer. She is survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Williams Sr., her parents, and her brother John Michael Palmer.
 
Judy spent her life sharing her love and laughter with others, sacrificing herself to provide for her children who love her very much. Judy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is gone but will never be forgotten.

Manuel V. Renteria

​Loving greetings to our family and friends as we announce the passing of our beloved Manuel V. Renteria at the age of 97.  A lifelong resident of Lordsburg, Manuel passed on peacefully at Ft. Bayard Medical Center, Saturday July 15, 2017 with family and loving caregivers at his side.
 
Visitation for Manuel will be held Friday morning, July 21, 2017, beginning at 9 o’clock at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lordsburg followed by recitation of the rosary led by Mrs. Alice Ramirez.  The Catholic Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated thereafter at 11 o’clock in the morning with the Reverend Jude Okonkwo as celebrant.  The Rite of Committal and interment will ensue at Shakespeare Cemetery with Veteran Honors accorded. A funeral reception is to be held at the Elks/Lodge following the burial.
 
The pallbearers include: grandsons, Dr. Michael Orona, Roman Orona, Jay Arredondo, Manny Renteria II, Ruben Renteria, Nicholas Renteria; great-grandson, Anthony Renteria and nephew, Ray Renteria. Honorary pallbearers are great-grandsons: Timothy Renteria and Danny Renteria Jr.; nephews, Rene Saucedo and Richard Renteria. 
 
Manuel was born in Valedon, New Mexico on March 31, 1920 to Bernardo Renteria and Petra Varela Renteria.  Following his return from Okinawa during WWII, Manuel married his loving wife Romelia (Romi) España-Renteria with the marriage having lasted a full 71 years to his death.
 
Manuel’s surviving family include his wife, “Romi”; 3 daughters: Dora Martinez (Jesus), Barbara Arredondo (Jimmy), Esther Orona (Joel); 2 sons, Manny Renteria Jr. (Donna), Jimmy Renteria (Elizabeth) and one brother, Ernesto (Neto) Renteria and his wife Ernie Renteria.  Manuel’s family also includes ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
Preceded in death by Manuel were his devoted parents, Bernardo and Petra, eight brothers, one sister and one infant child David. 
 
Manuel was a loyal member of the Lordsburg VFW Post 3099, Elks Lodge, Montezuma Catholic Men’s Club and L.U.L.A.C. civil rights organization.  He faithfully served and was a devotee of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Lordsburg.  Manuel’s devotion to his loving family, his community, friends and relatives was unequivocally demonstrated throughout his life bearing all difficulties, responsibilities and undertakings with an exacting spirit of affection, devotion, and great consideration, thereby, fulfilling a lifelong commitment of service.  The family of Manuel extend a warm welcome and are eternally grateful to everyone for their expressions of kindness during this most imomentous time in their lives.

Howard Donald (Don) Hill

Howard Donald (Don) Hill was born on August 14, 1933 in Kerens, TX to James Ernest and Mittie Hill.  He left this earth on July 2, 2017 in Round Rock, TX.

A prayer vigil and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Machado officiating. Cremation has taken place and private inurnment for the family will be held following the Mass.

Don married Marilyn Kuehler on August 14, 1952 in Brownfield, TX. They were married for almost 63 happy years before her death in June, 2015.   At the time of their marriage he worked for Amerada Oil Company in Brownfield. He then operated a laundry in Levelland, TX before going to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company in January, 1959.  He worked for El Paso Natural Gas until his retirement on the pipeline, at Station Number 1, Deming Station, and at Gage. He has been an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church since the family moved to Deming in 1962. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a part of the Klobase barbeque for many years. He also raised funds for the new air conditioning for the church along with his friend, Ruly Viramontes. He was part of the Cancer Support Group of Deming and Luna County serving on the board for more than 10 years.  During that time he filled the office of chairman of the board and treasurer. Don also served on the board and as treasurer of the Community Health Care Foundation for many years.  He loved Deming and served on many other committees and with many groups. He was instrumental in getting the Little League baseball charter and field in Deming having served as a coach for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved the Deming Invitational and played in it for more than 50 years.

Don leaves behind with loving memories of a wonderful dad and Grandpa Don; his children, Rhonda Phillips(Lu), Janet Hall(Jim Henery), Gary Hill(Heather), and his daughter-in-law Lisa Hill Carnett(Vince); grandchildren Cammie Bishop(Bradley), Chase Hall(Lacey), Courtney Hall, C.J. Henery, Robin Henery, Christopher Hill(Briana), Nicholas Hill, Sean Carnett, Loryn Nutt(Derek), Bethany Hill and Jacob Hill; and great grandchildren Sawyer, Emerson, Bowen, and Stella Bishop, Olivia Hall, and Audrey Hall; his sisters Betty Ray(Melvin) of Portales, Bess Martin of McKinney, TX, and his brother Gene Hill (Cathy) of Elephant Butte, NM, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David and Kevin Hill, a grandson, Trent Phillips, and his brother Jim Hill.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Support Group of Deming and Luna County, P.O. Box 1746, Deming NM 88031.

The family would like to thank the staff of University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX and Seton Hospital in Round Rock, TX for their loving care of Don and his family.
