Jesus J. Dominguez, 89, a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great grand-father, and family patriarch. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family in his home of 57 years.

Jesus was a born-again Christian being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to solemnly proclaim his faith. He was a true gentleman with a heart of gold. He continuously advised the importance of being kind, courteous, respectful, and trustworthy. He also advised the importance of being a hard worker to succeed in life. Our family is deeply saddened, and heartbroken as we will miss him dearly, but we are comforted by God’s Devine Plan for The Future.

He was preceded in death by his father Pedro Dominguez, Mother Soledad Nevarez, Son Juan Francisco Dominguez, sister, Cruz Nevarez and brother Rogelio Romero. Survived by his wife Christina Dominguez, Son Rudy Dominguez and Lisa Garcia, Son Jesse Dominguez and Annette Morales, grand-children Desiree Vega, Amber Dominguez. Ashley Dominguez, Jesus Dominguez III, great grand-children Eric Dominguez, Destinee Vega, Trinity Vega, Corinna Torres, Chevelle Torres, Izaiah Lucero, and Eli Lucero; his sister, Josefa Nevarez.

Visitation will be Wednesday February 26, 2020 from 10-11 am and the Funeral service officiated by Pastor Dale Reese will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Terrazas Funeral Chapel in Santa Clara, NM. Concluding service and interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery in Silver City, NM.

Pallbearers: Rudy Dominguez, Jesse Dominguez, Patrick Vega, Joseph Garcia, Leroy Becerra, Juan Luis Nevarez. Honorary Pallbearers: Margarito Nevarez Jr., Oracio Nevarez Terrazas, Jared Gandara.

Vernette Sanchez, 76, a resident of Lordsburg, N.M. entered eternal rest on Monday, February 17, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born January 16, 1944 in Tecolate, N.M. to Bud Roy Frazier and Vera Mae Dillard Frazier. She is survived by one son. Vincent P. Sanchez of Lordsburg; three daughters, Jackie Ramirez (Jr.) from Animas, Jody Gonzales (Pete) of Las Cruces, Gina M. Sanchez of Lordsburg; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Garland Frazier (Rosie) of Alamogordo, Don Frazier (Clydia) of Lordsburg, Carl Frazier of Santa Teresa, NM Edward Frazier (Joyce) of Jal, N.M.; two sisters, Sara Kinnikin (Joe) of Silver City, Jean James of Alamogordo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose A. Sanchez, sisters, Elsie Hansen, Carol Adams, Joyce Frazier, Betty Graham.
A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22nd at 10 a.m. at Assembly of God Church in Lordsburg. Officiated by Pastor Joseph Hill. Concluding service and interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Lordsburg.

Pallbearers will be Pete Gonzales Jr., Joseph Gonzales, Aaron Mesa, Zachary Talavera, Jonathan, Gregory and James Cuevas, James Dean Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Gonzales Sr., Jr. Ramirez, Joe A. Eduvijes E. Gomez, 84, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center. Eduvijes was born on October 17, 1935 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maximiano Gomez and Manuela (Estrada) Gomez.

He is survived by his wife, Maria de Jesus Gomez; four sons, John Gomez of Burbank, CA; Victor Gomez and his wife Patricia of CA; Eddie Gomez of Deming, NM and Rene Gomez and his wife Margarita of Deming, NM; two daughters, Elvia Mesa and her husband Daniel C. of Deming, NM and Catalina Gomez of CA; one brother, Rene Gomez and his wife Rosa of Mexico; one sister, Prisilda Contreras and her husband Manuel of Mexico; nineteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents; five brothers, Marcial Gomez, Camilo Gomez, Panfilo Gomez, Max Gomez and Fidencio Gomez.

Visitation will be on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 5-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

Funeral service will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor, Prisilda Contreras officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View cemetery.

Maurice G. Aragon

Maurice G. Aragon of Silver City passed away at his home on February 13, 2020. Services will be held on Thursday February 20, 2020 at St. Francis Newman Center beginning with a rosary at 11:00 followed by a mass at 11:30. Full military honors will follow at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery at 1:00.

He was born on February 26, 1928 to Eusebio M. Aragon and Gertrude Garcia Aragon in Ft. Bayard, NM. He was the co-owner of A & R Garage for over 40 years. He served in the US Army, was a Korean War Veteran, and retired from the US National Guard. Maurice was an avid fisherman and hunter. His favorite place was his cabin at Willow Creek where he spent time with friends and family throughout the years. He was a member of the Silver City Optimist Club, he served on the New Mexico Board of Economic Development and was an original member of the Knight of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sally of 63 years, his sons Michael and Chester, and grandson Mickey, his sisters Patsy Valencia, Teresa Holguin, Mabel Uzueta, and two brothers Juan and Luis Aragon.

He is survived by his daughter Norma (Roland) Billings, grandchildren Sara (Abby) Billings of Tiller, OR, Dana Cates of Silver City, NM, Roland (Angela) Billings of Colorado Springs, CO, Jade Billings of Huntington Beach, CA, and Lory Horton of Boulder, CO. Greatgrandchildren, Chris, Nick, Esteban, Ellena Billings and Natane Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be Manny Granado, Frank T. Gonzales, Pete Holguin, Ed Sordyl, Bill Moore, Luis Salcido, Steve White, Tommy Ryan, and Andy Padilla.

Consuelo “Chelo” V. Salas

Consuelo “Chelo” V. Salas, 93, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday February 13 at her residence. She was born on November 4, 1926 in Santa Rita to Juan and Maria Valerio.

During the Great Depression she worked for Kennecott on the railroad. She then worked in the Nursing Department at the Santa Rita hospital which she loved. She learned so much about compassion, empathy, and caring for others which she carried throughout her life. In 1955 she married her loving husband of 60 years, Jose M. Salas. Together they raised three beautiful daughters (her jewels). They lived their marriage encounter in 1976, where she met and mentored many couples. She was a devoted catholic who served in many ministries throughout the years. She became a cursillista in 1978 and lived her life De Colores after that. Chelo was a great cook. She made the best “vates” and no one could forget her famous Friday night red enchiladas. She was always praying and rooting for her Cobre Indians, no matter what sport.

Chelo enjoyed gambling, singing, dancing, laughing, playing games, and most importantly spending time with all of her family. She had a huge heart and welcoming arms for everyone. She is survived by her three daughters; Lucy Arellano and husband Gary who she loved like her own; Priscilla Laurent and husband John; Dora Summy and husband Scott; grandchildren Brenda, Sammy, Randy, Jocelyn, Monica, Kristen, Kari, Melyssa, Steven, Dylan and Erica; seventeen great-grandchildren whom she loved so much. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Beatrice Valerio and Esther French, brother-in-law Luis Morales, special compas Juan Alaniz, and David and Virginia Castanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Pepe Salas; grandsons Johnny Joe Laurent and Bryan Summy; and all of her siblings.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18 from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon David Castañon to begin at 6pm.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 19 at 9:30am at Hurley Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

Pallbearers will be Sam and Randy Arellano, Robert Salas, Steven and Dylan Summy, Antonio Trivizo, Charles Salas, and Gilbert Valerio.

Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren.

Rita A. Robinson, 81, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

She was born November 25, 1938 in Millfield, Ohio to Orley Toth and Helen Russell Toth. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald Robinson of the family home; two sons, Robert “Steve” Robinson and wife Rhonda of Minnesota; Scott Allen Robinson of Lake County, CA; two daughters, Brenda Ann Seright of Bayard; Carol Lynn Stavas of Napa Valley, CA; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Toth and wife Toni of AZ; one sister, Linda Toth of CA; numerous extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Bethany Holder; a son in-law, Tim Stavas.

No service will be held as per her wishes. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.

Lily Benavidez Holguín

Lily Benavidez Holguín, of Phoenix, Arizona, died Thursday of natural causes.

She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Lily was born in Silver City, New Mexico, on October 18, 1931, to Reymundo Benavidez and Beatriz Polanco. Lily lived a life of faith with her loving husband of 64 years, Arturo “Tudie” Holguín until his passing in 2012. After getting married in 1955, they started their family in Santa Clara, New Mexico. They moved their family to Salt Lake City, Utah for twenty years, and then Phoenix, Arizona, for seven years. Then in 1993, Tudie and Lily returned home to Santa Clara to live out their life in a beautiful home Tudie built for Lily. 


Lily spent her life caring for her family and was a mother figure to many beyond her immediate family. Lily loved to cook and bake for her family and treasured friends. As a child care provider Lily played an integral role in raising children of all ages. She saw to their social, health and mental welfare, by offering them stability and love. A faithful volunteer at Santa Clara Catholic Church, Silver City Senior Center, and as an election worker for decades. Lily was proud of her impact to better the community she loved so much. 


Everyone that Lily met has a Lily story. She was endearing, charismatic, and made everyone feel special. She was funny, feisty and filled every room with laughter and colorful stories. Lily loved listening to music and watching her novelas. She looked for any opportunity to brag about her children and grandchildren and loved to participate in their accomplishments and major milestones. Later in life Lily spent her days visiting with, talking to and writing letters to friends and family to share family news and to keep in touch. The matriarch of the Benavidez-Holguin family, Lily will be remembered as a dear sister, giving mother, loving grandma, devoted wife, and a cherished friend. She and her husband Tudie were married for over 50 years and shared a deep love of family, faith, and New Mexican culture. It is from this love that her family continues to grow and strive to lead lives full of purpose and strength. 

A devout Catholic, Lily’s faith always saw her through family loss and hard times. It is this same faith that has been passed down to the generations, that will see her family through this time of loss. 

Lily is survived by her daughter Erminda Garcia and her husband Eugene, her son Ricardo “Champ” Aguirre and his wife Cathy, her son Ronald “Sonny” Aguirre and his wife Barbara. She was preceded in death by her daughter Hope “China” Aguirre and her daughter Martha Cecilia Baca Torres. Lily is survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and preceded in death by her grandsons Ika Ricardo Aguirre and Joel Aguirre (daughter Neveah). Her loving grandchildren and their families are: Joaquin Aguirre; Marisol Garcia her husband Denis Castro and their son Vicente Castro; Javier Baca, his wife Maria and their sons Xoaquin, Adan and Diego; Ava Gomez, her husband Peter and their children Joaquin, Julian and Jiana; Marivel Pesqueira, her husband Jimmy and their children Andres & his wife Rosette, Marissa, Santiago, Gabriel and Olivia; Malena Aguirre and her son Hayden and daughter Eretria; Armando Aguirre, his wife and their son Canyon; Gregorio Aguirre, Jessica Hayes and Shaylyn Aguirre. 

Public visitation will begin at 5pm followed by a Rosary service at 6pm Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 2:00pm at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Santa Clara cemetery. 

​Pallbearers will be Saul Padilla, Raul Padilla, Henry Andazola, Joseph Barrios, Gilbert Barrios, Juan Sierra, Joe Sierra, and Gabriel Benavidez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Denis Castro, Peter Gomez, Jimmy Pesqueira, Randy Soto, Louis Ortega, Danny Ortega, Leonard Ortega, Martin Ortega, and Sammy Saenz.

Jose R. Tafoya, 78, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home.

Jose was born on September 5, 1941 in Ascencion, Mexico to Jose Ramon Tafoya and Francisca Cardenas. He is survived by one brother, Rudy Tafoya and his wife Guadalupe of Deming, NM; three sisters, Lidia Saenz of Las Cruces, NM; Martha Montaño of Deming, NM and Aurora Martinez and her husband Eduardo Deming, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Adolfo Castro and one sister, Dora Ruiz.

Visitation will be Today, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 10:30-11:30am. Holy rosary will then begin at 11:30am with Irma Jaurequi officiating. Funeral mass will then begin at 12noon with Father, Manuel Ibarra officiating.

All the services will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Eduardo Martinez, David Martinez, Jose Martinez, Rudy Tafoya, Carlos Tafoya and Homero Saenz.

Lynda Sue Snow, 78, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at her residence.

Lynda was born on February 15, 1941 in California to Marvin O. Cornell and Elsie Velma Zumwalt. 
Lynda enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Lynda enjoyed spending time in nature as well as hunting, camping, fishing, and traveling. She enjoyed seeing the wildlife on her adventures and held a special place in her heart for owls. She enjoyed watching Survivor and was an avid reader. 
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard C. Snow; three daughters, Connie Terrazas and her husband Eddie of Hatch, NM; Julie Hollis and her husband Stacy of Deming, NM and Jolynn Cordova and her husband Pete of Deming, NM; one sister, Neena Mayfield and her husband Ray of Kansas; twenty one grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Snow.

Per her request cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.

Angel R. Lucero, 81, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, February 7, 2020 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM. 

He was born May 4, 1938 in Las Cruces to Andres T. Lucero and Gerarda Reyes Lucero.   Angel aka Pompos proudly served his country with the U.S.Army for 3 yrs.  In his younger years, he was a good baseball player, nicknamed “Calavera” and “Golden Arm”.  He worked for 25yrs as the Furr’s manager; and for SWSH for 10yrs.  He was a Lulac member. 

He was Councilman for District 3 for two terms.  He enjoyed tending to his garden of Jalapenos and tomatoes, also the growing of beautiful flowers and took pride of his Morning Glories.  Last, but not least his grandkids were his pride and joy.  He enjoyed watching their games.  He is survived by his companion Delfina; his daughters, Priscilla Puentes and husband Michael; Belinda Rodriguez and husband George Rodriguez; Susana Limon and companion Aaron Elza; six grandchildren, Michelle Alvarado (Luis); Joseph Puentes,  Georgie Rodriguez (Cynthia); Joshua Limon (Rachel); Jessica Rodrigues (Dominic); Randell Limon (Rachel); thirteen great grandchildren, Jaylean Rodriguez, Alexis Alvarado, Abagail Rodriguez, Ariel Alvarado, George (Boo Boo) Rodriguez III, Bellah Rodriguez, Luis (Bubba Lou Alvarado, Brody Rodriguez, Julian (JuJu) Rodriguez, Emma Rodriguez, Zoe Rodriguez, Camden Rodriguez, and Dominic Limon; a sister, Grace Leach; a brother, Rudy Lucero. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Sal Puentes; two brothers, Raul and Andy Lucero; three nephews, Rudy Lucero Jr., Earl Baca and William Baca.     

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting. 

Concluding service and inurnment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery.  Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~575-537-0777.
