Pina was the heart and soul of the Viramontes family and a cherished member of every community she lived in. As her young family moved across New Mexico, Pina lovingly made a home, providing unwavering support to Enrique, as he pursued his lifelong career as a farmer. Together, they raised their six children: Jovita, Enrique Jr., Raymond, Leticia, Alice, and Patricia.
A woman of deep faith, Pina instilled strong spiritual values in her children, relying on the Lord's guidance throughout her life. Her home was a sanctuary of love, with a kitchen that always welcomed visitors and offered nourishment for both body and soul. Her mouthwatering peach cobblers and comforting meals were just one way she expressed her love and care. Her warm presence put others instantly at ease, a skill that many remember fondly.
Lovingly known as Grandma Pina, or Tia Pina, she extended her maternal love not only to her family but to everyone she knew. Her affection knew no bounds, and she generously showered everyone with love, often exclaiming, "I love you mucho mucho!" In her later years, Pina worked as a grandma at local schools, endearing herself to the entire community as Grandma Pina.
Pina is survived by her six children: Jovita Gonzalez and her husband Ramon of Anthony, NM; Enrique Viramontes Jr, and his wife, Yolanda, of Deming NM, Raymond Viramontes and his wife, Courtney, of Deming, NM; Leticia Montez and her husband, Albert, of Deming, NM; Alice Gomez and her husband, Richard, of El Paso, TX; and Patricia Chandler and her husband, Clint, of Scottsdale, AZ; her brother Salvador Medina of La Union, NM, as well as her thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Enrique, her brothers Alfonso Medina and Oscar Medina, her sister, Hortencia Castorena, her parents, Cleto and Magdalena Medina, her daughter-in-law, Carol Viramontes, and her great-granddaughter, Xochil Elena Viramontes.
