DOLORES (DODO) MORALES TEAGUE, 61, a lifelong resident of Deming passed away Sunday February 25, 2024 at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso.

A rosary will be Friday March 8, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning at St. Ann’s Catholic Church led by Suzanne Lundy. Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Francis Gyau officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. View Cemetery at a later date.

Dolores was born November 2, 1962 in Deming to Willie and Catalina (Flores) Morales. She graduated from Deming High School and later became an Educational Assistant for the Deming Public School system where she worked for more than 20 years. Dolores was a member of The Elks Lodge and was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Leon C. Teague of Deming; sons, Jared Teague (Marcy) of Las Cruces, Cam Teague (Kayla) of Las Cruces, Leon W. Teague (Tory) of Deming and Chevy Teague (Emily) of Las Cruces; brother Willie Morales Jr. of Deming; sisters, Julie Luna (Sal) of Albuquerque, Marty Garcia (Albert) of Roswell; 6 grandchildren whom she adored, Deuce, Brody, Scarlett, Atlanta, Harley and Isla, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Consuelo R Holguin a resident of Bakersfield, California passed away Saturday February 10th 2024 at Bakersfield Medical Center. She was born September 9th 1935 to Margarite B. Rivera in Silver City, New Mexico, She lived and raised her 7 kids in Deming, New Mexico, She moved to Bakersfield, California in 1995 to be closer to her only daughter where she lived until her passing.

She is survived by her children Armando ‘’Mary’’ Holguin, Oscar ‘’Mary Ann’’ Holguin, Steve Holguin, Richard Holguin, Pete Holguin, Thomas ‘’Jessica’’ Holguin and Debbie ‘’Alex’’ Borland and by her sister Linda Chavez. She was preceded in death by her mother Margarite Rivera, her brother Zeke Rivera and her sister Maria Aragon.

Consuelo ‘’Connie’’ was devoted to God and her children whom she raised by herself. She was a hard working individual often holding 2 jobs to support and keep her children together. She had great influence on her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Wednesday morning, March 6, 2024 at 10 o’clock at St. Ann’s Catholic Church where the rosary will begin at 10:30 led by Patsy Leyba. Memorial Mass will follow at 11 o’clock with Fr. Francis Gyau officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Maria De Los Angeles Ortiz, 83, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Friday, February 23, 2024 at UMC of El Paso.

Maria was born on October 2, 1940 in El Platiado, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jesus Avila and Benita Raigoza.

She is survived by four sons, Fernando Ortiz of Deming, NM; Alfredo Ortiz and his wife Rosa of Deming, NM; Basilio Ortiz and his wife Maria of Bell, CA and Jose Ortiz and his wife Michaeleen of Deming, NM; two daughters, Alicia Ortiz of La Puente, CA and Guadalupe Ortiz of Pomona, CA; four brothers, Froilan Avila and his wife Maria de la Luz of Juarez, Mex; Antonio Avila of Los Angeles, CA; Jesus Avila and his wife Sandra of Los Angeles, CA and Jose Avila of Deming, NM; three sisters, Maria Rosario Cuevas of La Puente, CA; Dolores Serrano and her husband Carlos of Los Angeles, CA and Maria del Carmen Varela and her husband Heleodoro of Los Angeles, CA; twenty three grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Mauel Ortiz Carrillo; two children, Victor Ortiz and Pedro Ortiz.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10-10:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapel with the holy rosary beginning at 10:30am with Maria del Carmen Varela officiating. Funeral service will then begin at 11am with Pastor, Mason Davis officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are her children, Fernando, Alfredo, Basilio, Jose, Alicia and Guadalupe.

Stephen Lee Wisdom passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Deming, New Mexico. He was born October 4, 1953 in Tonasket, Washington to Robert Lee Wisdom and Amie Marguerite (Stephens) Wisdom. The family moved to Deming when Steve was in the fifth grade, and he has made Deming his home since then. He is known to his good friends as someone who will do anything for you. And he is known to many children as their Grandpa.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Jane Neufeld, and his younger brother Dugan Wisdom. He is survived by his older brother, Leslie Wisdom of Oroville, Washington, older sister Maxine Moore of Augusta, Kansas, and younger sister, Amie Marguerite Linville of Missoula, Montana.

Steve also leaves a group of loving family and near family that will miss him very much: stepdaughter Julie Zumwalt of Adrian, Michigan, Stephen Eric Wisdom of Somerset, Michigan, Robert Marc Wisdom of Toledo, Ohio, and Pammy Hand of Deming. Also, like son and daughter to him were his very special friends, Donny and Isela Bustos of Deming. Among his grandchildren are Trey Zumwalt, Ceaira Zumwalt, Brynlee Zumwalt, Rory Wisdom, Grayson Dalton, Deacon Dalton, Weston Dalton, and Braxton Dalton. Also considered grandchildren are Olga Tarango, Daisy Bustos, Jacqueline Bustos, Yeimi “Curly” Bustos, Brianna “Bree” Bustos, and Baby Joselyn Bustos (stillborn). He also leaves one great grandchild, Naomi Zumwalt.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 1-2pm with a celebration of life service beginning at 2pm. Cremation will then take place at Terrazas Crematory.

Manuel Varela Barba, 84, a resident of Columbus, New Mexico entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, NM.

Manuel was born on August 13, 1939 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Pedro Barba and Enedina Varela.

He is survived by his wife, Susana Barba; three sons, Ventura Barba and his wife Isela Soto of Deming, NM; Jesus Barba and his wife Candelaria of Phoenix, AZ and Frank Barba and his wife Melissa Hernandez of Phoenix, AZ; eight daughters, Irma Barba and her husband Antonio Merino of Redding, CA; Manuela Barba and her husband Lucio Gonzalez of Phoenix, AZ; Aurora Barba of Phoenix, AZ; Martha Barba and her husband Angel Merino of Redding, CA; Estela Mena and her husband Victor of Phoenix, AZ; Ramona “Monie” Nuñez of El Paso, TX; Enedina Barba and her husband Juan Lozano of Columbus, NM and Maria Isabel Barba of Palomas, Mex.; two sisters, Guadalupe Barba of Tucson, AZ and Francisca Barba of Deming, NM; thirty nine grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents; one son, Manuel Barba; one daughter, Maria Velia Calderon; three brothers, Jesus Barba, Ventura Barba and Pedro Barba; three sisters, Lucia Montoya, Esperanza Barba and Teresa Barba; four grandchildren, Manuel Barba, Veronica Barba, Osvaldo Duran Barba and Christian Barba.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary beginning at 10am with Lucy Alvarado officiating. Funeral mass will then take place at St. Ann Catholic Church at 11am with Father, Francis Gyau officiating. Cremation will then take place at Terrazas Crematory. Serving as pallbearers are Pedro Barba, Albert Merino, Angel Barba, Nathan Barba, Manuel Barba and Luis Calderon.

Roberto Tena Garcia

Roberto Tena Garcia, 77, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 5, 2024, at his residence.

Roberto was born on May 21, 1946, in Madera, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Cesario Tena Millan and Mauricia Garcia.

Throughout his life, Roberto found immense joy in simple pleasures. Whether savoring delicious meals, embarking on scenic drives, admiring the grace of horses, or capturing timeless moments through photos, he lived each day with gratitude. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Roberto is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Martha Tena, and their five children: Ida Marie Tena and her husband Fernando Fierro of Artesia, NM; Patricia Rincon and her husband Javier Rincon of Deming, NM; Martha Tena Romero and her husband Ernesto Romero of Deming, NM; Rolando Tena and his wife Cristina Saenz of Deming, NM; and Fred Tena and his wife Sandra Lopez of Chihuahua, Mexico. Roberto also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cesario Tena Millan and Mauricia Garcia, as well as three brothers, Ricardo, Ramiro, and Pedro Tena, and two sisters, Edelmira Tena Vega and Victoria Tena.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 12 noon at Terrazas Funeral Chapels, officiated by Pastor Armando Saucedo. Following the service, Roberto will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Fernando Fierro, Javier Rincon, Ernesto Romero, Rolando Javier Tena, Joshua Tena, Fred Tena, Xzavier Enciso, and Diego Romero, with Rolando Tena as honorary pallbearer.

Roberto's legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.

James Patrick Chavez, 57, Deming resident passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his residence.

Visitation will take place Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church from 9 to 10 o’clock in the morning, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited by Patsy Leyba at 10. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11 with Father Prakasham Babu officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10 o’clock in the morning where Military Honors will be accorded. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.

James was born June 21, 1966 in Los Angeles, California to Mary Helen Carrasco and Angel R. Chavez. He served from 1985 to 1989 in the United States Air Force Academy as a food service specialist. James had many hobbies, cooking was his passion, woodworking, tinkering, cruising, lowriders, cheering on the Las Vegas Raiders, listening to music, especially music by Elvis, but what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family.

James is survived by his mother; Mary Helen Carrasco-Chavez of Deming; a son Aaron James Chavez of T or C; daughters Nicole (Jaired) Gros of Morenci, AZ, Sara (Eric) Hunter, Kasandra Chavez and Alex Chavez all of Colorado; sisters Melissa Chavez of Tucson, AZ and Lorraine (Manny) Rodriguez of Deming; grandchildren Deja, Ezra, Anya, Zyla, Joseph, Silas, Vida, Anamayah and Bella; nephews Brian (Carmen) Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, Marcus Lugo and niece Samantha Lugo; his former wives Dini Estrada and Anna Chavez, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Angel R. Chavez; maternal grandparents Manuel & Elisa Carrasco and paternal grandparents Eusebio & Teodora Chavez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Chavez, Brian Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, Marcus Lugo, Edgar Davalos & Melissa Chavez. Honorary Bearers will be Joseph Urbanowicz and Ezra Gros.
