Damian spent much of his youth between Bayard and Santa Fe while attending school and enlisted in the United States Navy where he received Veteran’s status and proudly served his country. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and outdoor excursions. He lived life on his terms and did not let anything deter him once he made his mind up about something. Many of us will miss his long calls with all the stories he had to tell.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Evans and wife Carol of Salem, MA; Damian Martinez of Bayard; one daughter, Victoria Martinez-Emerson and husband John of AL; four grandchildren, Henry, Ali, Melissa, and Jason; two brothers, Alejandro Del Llano and wife Debbie of Mammoth, AZ; Danny Martinez of Santa Fe, NM; four sisters, Adelida Martinez of Bayard; Tomasita Chavez and husband Eliseo of Santa Fe, NM; Eliza Martinez and husband Tony of Santa Fe; Annabell Ortiz and husband Alex of Rio Rancho, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 12th at 11:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Lopez, Angel Arzola, John Emerson, Alejandro Del Lano, Brian Chavez and Eric Arsola.
Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
