Patricia Marie Hamilton

Patricia Marie Hamilton, 84, a former resident of Silver City, NM now of Mesa, AZ entered eternal rest Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Hospice of the Valley-Lund Home in Gilbert, AZ.  She was born April 13, 1938 in Elgin, Illinois to John Brooks Henry and Irene Sandeway Henry.

She is survived by one son, Robert James “Jim” Hamilton Jr. and wife Minami of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Natalie Pierre Ortiz and husband Ismael of San Tan Valley, AZ; Penny Marie Carrier of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Robert James Hamilton Sr. (2018); one son, Forrestal Schondienst Allison; one brother, Raymond Jahnke; one sister, June Carnes.

Private services were held with immediate family.  In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society, www.americancancerfund.org.

Gloria Segura

Gloria Sanchez Segura, 81, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, July 14, 2022 at her residence in Silver City, NM.  Gloria was born on May 1, 1941 in Silver City, NM to her parents Antonio and Genevieve Madrid Sanchez.  She married her love, Marcelino Segura and had two children. 

She was a very classy lady. She earned her Master’s Degree and worked as a teacher for the Cobre School District until she retired.  Through her years of teaching, she loved her work and her students, she was an inspiration to many. After Retirement she volunteered her time to the Agape Schools and loved spending time with her Husband and Grandchildren.  She was a professional homemaker, she loved to decorate and shop.  She was a fervent loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.  She is loved and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her daughter Leah Genevieve Madrid of Las Cruces, NM,  her two grandchildren Benjamin Mark Madrid and Marissa Rochelle Madrid, Two Great Grandsons, Yadier Mark Madrid and Benjamin Matthew Madrid; She is preceded in death by Her husband Marcelino George Segura, Her Son Mark Anthony Segura and her parents Antonio Sanchez and Genevieve Sanchez.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at 9:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Oliver Obele officiating.  The Inurnment will follow immediately after at 11:00am at St. Vincents Catholic Cemetery.

Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.

Mary Montoya Trujillo

Mary Montoya Trujillo – 93 entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2022 at Fort Bayard Medical Center.  Mary was born in Sherman, NM on April 13, 1929 to Tomas and Dolores Montoya. 

Mary married her “Rey” Elotario (Terry) Trujillo on November 27, 1953. They were married for 42 years and she was his loving caretaker for 16 years until his passing in 1995.  Mary leaves behind by four children Terry (Linda) of Santa Clara, NM, Johnny of Santa Clara, NM, Sonia (Mando) of Arenas Valley, NM and Barney (Angela) of Albuquerque, NM.  She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Lisa Reed (Derek), Bubba Trujillo (Misty), Tierra Trujillo, Felicia Trujillo, Estrella Exham (Rob), Mandy Marrujo (Amy), Dexter Trujillo, Elotario Trujillo, Michael Chavarria (Dre), Angelica Boone, Richard, Matthew and Erica Escobar and (14) great-grandchildren.  She is survived by siblings, Genoveva Hernandez of Las Cruces, NM, Henry Montoya of Las Cruces, NM, Della Peña (Walo) of Hurley, NM, Brother-in-Law Mike Peña of Hurley, NM, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was lovingly known as “Mama Mary,” to Javier and Marivel Baca.  Mary was a devoted homemaker that took pride in keeping her home neat as a pin.  She also made sure her family was clean and pressed.  She was an excellent cook and never showed up empty handed for a visit.  Her tacos, refried beans, capirotada and atole de leche were legendary.  She will be remembered by her funny, feisty personality.  Mary’s free time was spent playing bingo and enjoyed going to the casino.  She also enjoyed being a member of the Funeral Ministry at the Santa Clara Catholic Church.  Mary was a happy person who loved to sing and dance.  She enjoyed visiting friends and family.  Mary is preceded in death by her husband Elotario, parents Dolores and Tomas, sisters Eloisa, Elvia, Grace, Emilia, brother Richard.
 
Services were held privately with immediate family. 

Cremation took place at Terrazas Crematory. 

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.

Megan Ray Wertz

Megan Ray Wertz, 18, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Mimbres Memorial Hospital, in Deming. She was born in Deming on December 19, 2003, to her parents David R. and Alice S. (McCarvel) Wertz. 

Megan was an original. There will never be another. She comes from a large, loud, loving, boisterous family. She was blessed to grow up with aunts, uncles, and many cousins close by.  She loved them all dearly. She has a large extended family in Washington, Colorado, Texas, and California. Megan had many circles of friends – soccer, tennis, church, cousins, pool, school, and teachers. Megan’s true love was her nephew Dante – he got all her kisses. Megan loved kids, babysitting and teaching swimming lessons. Megan loved her friends with all her heart. She relied on their support through her struggles, and they did not let her down. She was a fierce defender of her friends.

Megan was the youngest of her siblings and spent her childhood keeping up with her sisters. As a young girl Megan was involved in the Deming Soccer League and enjoyed playing through the different age groups up until she played on the LadyCat Soccer Team. She played defense with her sister Emily. She was a member of the Deming Dolphin Swim Team from the age of 6-13.  In high school, she became involved with school leadership and enjoyed her time as Student Council Vice President, President, and many other offices during her four years. She was also a Big Cat, Little Cub mentor. She was only supposed to have 1 cub, but the freshman flocked to her, and she would have up to 8. Her favorite time of year in high school was tennis season and the opportunity she had to spend each afternoon with her friends on the tennis team. She graduated in May 2022 from Western New Mexico University with an Associates in Liberal Arts and from Early College High School. She was part of the first graduating class of the Early College High School. She was excited to attend NMSU in August and pursue a degree in Communication Disorders.

She is survived by her parents, David and Alice Wertz; brothers, Ethan Wertz, and Chris Jasso (Corrina); sisters, Marisa and Emily Wertz; nephew, Dante Jasso; uncles, George (Genevieve) Wertz, Troy (Pamela) Wertz, Spencer (Anourack) Wertz, Trent (Lacee) Wertz, Felix McCarvel, Michael DiValentino, Victor DiValentino, and Damien Torregrossa; aunts, Bridget (Greg) Joireman, Nikki Cecil, Kimberlee (Eric) Crawford, and Denita Skousen; grandmothers, Dixie Wertz and Mary Kay DiValentino; numerous cousins and second cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her grandpas, Mervyn Wertz, William McCarvel and Leo DiValentino.
Pallbearers will be George Wertz, Troy Wertz, Spencer Wertz, Trent Wertz, George Allen Wertz, Ethan Wertz, Chris Jasso, and Truman Williams.

Her parents would like to thank all of Megan’s teachers, coaches, friends, family, and mentors who helped her become an amazing young woman that touched so many people.

There will be an open viewing from 2:30-3:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1000 W. Florida, Deming, NM on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Her funeral services will follow at 4. Dedication of the grave and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

May Beth Graham, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. She was born on October 8, 1935 to her parents Marvin C. Glenn and Ethel M Criswell Glenn in Silver City, NM. As a young girl, Beth was active in Rainbow Girls and Girl Scouts. She was also a 4H leader for many years and active in the Cobre FFA Chapter, when her sons were in high school. She acted as a chaperone and helped with the fund raisers. She and her husband Billy, were involved with the Cliff Gila Fair Assn. for over 40 years. They also traveled with the Elks Lodge RV group during their retirement. She was a homemaker and enjoyed not only rearranging furniture, but was known for taking down entire walls to open up a room, as her friends can tell you. She leaves behind cherished family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, James “Bub” Graham (Gail) of Silver City, NM, John Bill Graham (Lisa) of Eskridge, KS; her one daughter, Vickie McCauley (Joe) of Silver City, NM; her one sister Barbara Turner of Silver City, NM; her six grandchildren, Shawn McCauley (Annie), Heidi Vermillion (Josh), Ashley White (Tyler), Brock Graham (Stephanie), Lauren Graham and Autumn Robertson (John). She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband William T. Graham.


At her request, she has been cremated and will have a private family service at the ranch.


Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.

Armando V. Jimenez

Armando V. Jimenez, 61, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at his residence in Santa Clara, NM.  He was born on September 17, 1960 to his parents Julio and Elia Jimenez in Carlsbad, NM.

Armando loved life to the fullest. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was always ready for a pickup basketball game and ready to trash talk whoever he was playing against. His parents were so well loved by him. He was a caregiver for both his dad and mom.  He loved his kids, grandkids, and the rest of his family. He enjoyed joking around with everyone. He was so hospitable with everyone that came over to visit. Always had something for you to eat and drink. Ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. He will be missed immensely.

He is survived by his wife Mary Armijo Jimenez of Las Cruces, NM; his mother Elia Vasquez Jimenez of Santa Clara, NM; his one son Mando Jimenez Jr (Andrea Benavidez) of Silver City, NM; his one daughter Veronica Jimenez of Silver City, NM; his three brothers, Roy Jimenez (Vicky) of Ruidoso, NM, Julio Jimenez Jr. (Evelyn) of Silver City, NM, Manuel Jimenez (Rose) of Bayard, NM; his four sisters, Priscilla Diaz of Silver City, NM, Barbara Jimenez Duncan (Wayne) of Santa Clara, NM, Mary Ann Telles(Oscar) of Las Cruces, NM and Rosa Clokey (Rod) of Arkansas; his eight grandchildren, Bianka, Naomi, Devahnie, Deziahr, Aleanah, Mariah, Jordan and Ania Xander; his numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father Julio H. Jimenez; his two brothers, Ismael Jimenez and Ramon Jimenez; his brother in law David Diaz. 

The Rosary will be Tuesday, July 19 at 10:00am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting.  Funeral mass will commence at 10:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his late family.  Pallbearers include Jason Jimenez, Manuel Carrazco, Ramon Jimenez, Zachary Jimenez, Roy Jimenez, Jerry Amador, Oscar Telles, and Jesús Manuel Vigil.

Jimmy Tillis

Jimmy Tillis, 79, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022.  He was born on September 13, 1942 to his parents, Jimmy Lee Tillis Sr. and Eloise Chambers Tillis in Morton, Mississippi.  Jim was a dedicated husband, father and friend.  He was loved by all.  He had a passion for preaching the good news of God’s word to others.  He also loved traveling, listening to music and enjoying a good barbecue.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends.  We have hope that we’ll be reunited with our beloved Jimmy. 

He is survived by his spouse Mary H. Tillis of Silver City, NM; his four sons, Ronald Tillis of Las Cruces, NM, Cedric Tillis (Angelica) of Odesa, Texas, Shawn Tillis (Jean Marie) of Mesa Arizona, Kevin Tillis (Jamie) of Michigan; his three step daughters, Geanna Gray of Silver City, NM, Vicky Broom and Roxanne Curtis (Nicholas); his one brother Lydell Tillis of Colorado; his one sister Pamela Tillis of Colorado; his seven grandchildren and his 3 great grandchildren; his nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Bobby Tillis, Fred Tillis, Alan Tillis and Randy Tillis; his two sisters, Sharon Tillis and Glenda Tillis. 

Family will be having his services at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 2415 Pinos Altos Rd, Silver City, NM 88061.

Alma Lequita “Kitty” Kiel

A retiree in Glenwood, NM for almost 40 years, former teacher, Alma Lequita “Kitty” Kiel passed away at on Monday, July 4, 2022 at her residence from the effects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.  She gained her independence while convalescing at home under the care of family and Haven Hospice.  She was 87 yrs old.

Kitty was born in 1935, in Memphis, TX to Charlie Wesseley “CW” Greenwood and Ester Leona “Ma” Red.   She grew up and attended high school in Silver City.  On December 22, 1951, she and Ray married in Silver City.  She was a wife, mother, and homemaker until she earned her BS in education from Arizona State University.  During her years at ASU, she worked as an executive secretary at Blakely Oil and New York Life Insurance.  Her first teaching assignment was at Buckeye Union High School, Buckeye, AZ, then at Mayer High School, Mayer, AZ.  At both institutions she taught business machines, computers, typing and stenography.  During summers, she worked and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University.  Upon retirement she returned to NM to live in Glenwood, NM. 

She is survived by her eldest son, Kyle E. Kiel, also residing in Glenwood; her grandson, Gavin R. Kiel of Cambridge, MA; her granddaughters, Michelle Kiel of MO and Risa Leanne Kiel of Menifee, CA; four great grandchildren; sister in-law, Billye Andrews from Springerville, AZ.  She was Aunt to 20 nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest son, Michael Ray Kiel; her husband of 70 years, Ray Lee Kiel; her brother, Benjamin Ray Greenwood.

Memorial arrangements are pending.  Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.

Billye M. Moore, 89, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, July 10, 2022 at her residence. She was born on February 9, 1933 to her parents, Flossie (Brown) and Thomas F. Vaughan in Quemado, NM.

She is survived by her daughter Chrisanda Stein (Bernard) of Long Beach, CA; her two brothers, Stanley Vaughan (Diane) of Hurley, NM and Michael Vaughan (Gerrie) of Mimbres, NM.  She is preceded in death by her 1st spouse, Thomas Williams, her 2nd spouse, James E. Moore; her parents; her one brother Ted Vaughan.

A Direct Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:00am at Fort Bayard National Cemetery to be laid to rest with her 1st spouse, Thomas Williams.

Arthur “Arty” Ambriz Jr.

Our beloved, Arthur “Arty” Ambriz Jr., entered eternal rest on Friday, July 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.  Arty, age 38, was a talented artist and the most dedicated dad to his only son, Jedidiah “Jedi” Ambriz.  Arty was born in Silver City, NM, on May 13, 1984, to Carla Turrey and Arthur “Tudy” Ambriz. His family raised him in Las Cruces, NM, until Arty’s 7th-grade year.  The family then moved to Santa Clara, NM. He made many friends when he moved. In his younger years, he enjoyed breakdancing and low-rider bikes. He was always clean-cut and fresh-pressed in his style to this day. Arty has four siblings, Carlos, Anissa, Nikkita, and Sofia.  His sister, Anissa, best described him as a protector, the best dad a child could ask for, a person with a heart of gold, a contagious smile, and the sickest dance moves.  

He is survived by his son Jedi, his parents, Carla Turrey and Tudy (Eileen) Ambriz, and his siblings, Carlos Ambriz, Anissa Ambriz, Nikkita Nuanes, and Sofia Nunez.   Grandparents, Frances and Ambrosio “Bocho” Ambriz.  Aunts and uncles, Blanca Turrey, Henry Turrey (Susie, AKA, Linda), Titus Turrey, Henry Ambriz (Sandra), and David Ambriz, (Tina). Cousins; Niko Turrey, Levi Turrey, Ashley De La Torre, Cristy Carpenter, Kenny Carpenter, Marissa Ambriz, Leo Ambriz, Ashley Dunbar, Brianna Ambriz, and Matthew Ambriz.   Loved by numerous nieces and nephews, second cousins, and friends of the family that he grew up with that are too many to list. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Rita Turrey. Infant uncle, Tobias Turrey.  Brother, Nathaniel Sanchez.  We all loved him more than words could express. 

The Holy Rosary is to be recited by family starting at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church on Friday, July 15th.  The Mass of Christian Burial is to be officiated by Father Martin Okonkwo at 10:30am.   The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at Santa Clara cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ashley De La Torre, Cristy Carpenter, Levi Turrey, Carlos Ambriz, Anissa Conchita Ambriz, and Niko Turrey. 
 
Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
