​Delton Lunceford Jr., 44, Deming resident passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque.
 
No services will take place as per his wishes.  Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
 
Delton was born September 13, 1972 to Janie Lou Stockton and Delton Howard Lunceford in Odessa, Texas.  He came to Deming in 1998 from Odessa, Texas and had locally owned and operated Delta Computers.  He loved the outdoors, gardening, trips to the mountains, four wheeling, wood working, welding and riding motorcycles. 
 
He is survived by mother, Janie Tharp of Deming; daughters, Katelyn Lunceford of Midland, TX, Evelyn Lunceford; brother, Glenn Lunceford and sister, Michelle Davis both of Deming; many nieces, nephews, and friends. 
 
Preceded in death by father, Delton Howard Lunceford and step-father, Charles Tharp.

Rosa G. Tinney, 85, of Deming, New Mexico passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
 
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 o’clock in the morning, Thursday March 30, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Concluding services and inurnment will follow at Valley Heights in Columbus with Farther Ronald Machado officiating where she will be buried in her family plot. A Bereavement lunch will be held following the burial at Holy Family parish hall in Deming.  Everyone is invited. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
 
 Rosa born on October 29, 1931 in Columbus, New Mexico to Juana and Nicolas Gutierrez.  She moved to Deming in 1969.  Rosa was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Columbus and Deming.  She was an active member of the church and volunteered her time and culinary talents for the church.  For 25 years, she helped with Mass every Thursday at the Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home. 
 
She loved cooking, dancing, working in her yard and being with family and friends.  Her faith was of the utmost importance.  She was a prayer warrior.  Rosa worked for Deming Public Schools in the cafeteria for 18 years. 
 
She is survived by her son, Richard Tinney (Mary) of Deming; daughter, Betty Tinney Lightcap of Key West, Florida, daughter, Jackie Massegee (Darrel) of Los Lunas, New Mexico, daughters, Shirley and Brenda Tinney of Deming. Rosa had 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
 
A special thanks to the staff of Mimbres Memorial Hospital and Ambercare for their kind and loving care.

Lidia C Marquez

​Lidia C. Marquez, 77, former Deming resident passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center.
 
Rosary will be Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Dominica Marquez officiating.  Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 12 o’clock.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. 
 
Lidia was born February 14, 1940 in Hachita, New Mexico to Jesus and Ramona Nunez.  Lidia was a very dedicated parishioner, catechist, and Eucharistic Minister for St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She worked for Mountain Bell telephone company, later known as Qwest, for 37 years, starting as a telephone operator and eventually becoming a drafting engineer for her company. 
 
Lidia married the love of her life, Abel A. Marquez, in 1961.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 
 
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Sosin and husband Dan of Las Cruces, Dina Marquez of Deming, Anna Alcala and husband Robert Anthony of Las Cruces, Virginia Chavez of Deming; grandchildren, David Abel Garnand, Luis Sosin, Raymond Marquez, Jackson Sosin, Abel Chavez, Robert Alcala Jr., Kaydance Chavez, Jezirae Alcala and Hope Alcala; siblings, Arnulfo Nunez, Lucy Quarrell and Mary Lou Barrio.
 
Lidia was preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Ramona Nunez; brother, Reymundo Nunez; sister, Gloria Maynes; son, Abel Albert Marquez Jr.; grandson, Jonathan Garnand and husband, Abel Albert Marquez Sr.
 
Pallbearers will be Robert Alcala Sr., Bernie Chavez, David Abel Garnand, Raymond Marquez, Abel Chavez and Robert Alcala Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Arnulfo Nunez, Omar Barrio, Donald Nunez, Al Nunez, Daniel Reyes and Ramon Aguirre.

Mary L. Hernandez

Mary L. Hernandez, 84, lifelong Deming resident passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her home.
 
Visitation will begin Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2017 at 4 o'clock at Baca’s Funeral Chapel where a prayer vigil will begin at 6 o’clock led by Suzanne Lundy.  Mary’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 o’clock Friday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with Father Ronald Machado, Pastor officiating.
 
Mary was born April 18, 1932 in Deming to Maria Lemus and Antonio Hernandez.  She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and sang in the choir.  She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.  Being the kind of person she was, Mary gave up her job so that she could stay home and care for her mother and sister.  She enjoyed daily visits to the Senior Center to accompany her niece and nephew to watch them play card games and pool.  She was a very loving and caring person. 
 
She is survived by nephews, Joe Serito Garcia and wife Teresa who was also her caregiver of Deming, Gilbert Garcia of Colorado, Angel Garcia of Deming; nieces, Martha Hernandez of Albuquerque and Dolores Martinez of Tennessee.  Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends of California, Nevada and Texas.
 
She was preceded in death by parents, Antonio and Maria Hernandez and sister, Esperanza Hernandez.

Virginia Lucille Wood

Virginia Lucille Wood passed away peacefully at her home in Deming, New Mexico on Thursday, March 16, 2017. Virginia was born on March 10, 1923, in Cadillac, MI to her parents Lawrence Cass and Margaret Devoy. Virginia grew up in Cadillac, MI.

Virginia married Robert H. Wood in 1942 and together raised six children: Vicki, Bill, Tim, Kevin, Larry and Kathy in Grattan, MI on Slayton Lake in a house that Bob built three times.

Virginia retired from Amway Corporation after many years of dedication and moved to Summerland Key, Florida. Virginia was surrounded by family and friends and enjoyed doing crossword while having coffee (or drinks) on her front porch while swinging on her swing. Virginia loved to entertain and was always a gracious host who would provide wonderful food and drink to any and all who would cross her doorstep. Virginia held many holiday cocktail parties on Summerland Key to be remembered, some that are still being talked about to this day!

Virginia also enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and especially gambling across the country and back with her sister, Carrie Helen, her daughters, Vicki and Kathy and really anyone who would go with her!

Virginia was a strong, beautiful, generous, loving woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her long time honey, Bob Wood, her daughter, Vicki Wood, her son, Larry Wood and her grandson, Ryan Bellinger as well her siblings: Dick, Marion and Bill.

Virginia is survived by her children, Tim & Peggy Wood, Belding, MI, Bill & Maxine Wood, Columbiana, Al, Kevin & Joel Lowery Cedar Key, FL, and Kathy & Chris Madsen, Deming, NM. Virginia loved her grandchildren: Brechen, Tiffany, Tim, Eric, Monica, Cal, Jenny, Amber, Bob, Matt, Kassi, Kris, David, Molly, Mitchell, Leslie and was so proud of them. Virginia was also survived by many Great Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and her siblings – Carrie Helen Stoll, Larry Cass and Judy Gumper.

Special thanks to the Ambercare Hospice especially, Dan and Edna for your loving care and support. The journey would not have been so smooth without you.

Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels & Crematory

​Grace H. Pummill, 81, longtime Deming resident passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her home.
 
Memorial service will be Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10 o’clock in the morning at Baca’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Cowan officiating of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Las Cruces.  Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory. 
 
Grace was born January 4, 1936 to Maude Parson and Joe E. Harris in Martinez, California.  She was a member of the Senior Circle and worked for the Luna County Sheriff’s Office retiring after 16 years of service as Sergeant. 
 
She is survived by 2 sons, Mike Pummill and wife Lydia, Randy Pummill both of Las Cruces; daughter, Judy Carter of Deming; 5 grandchildren, Amy Pummill, Jeramey Pummill and wife Dominique, Anthony Pummill, Jennifer Kelly and Korie Carter; 3 great-grandchildren, Mia Pummill, James Pummill and Abby Carter. 
 
Preceded in death by parents, Joe and Maude Harris; sister, Betty Parmer; brother, Jack Harris and son-in-law, David Carter.

RONALD K. PROKOPEC, 73, passed away on Sunday March 12, 2017  in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
 
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Baca's Funeral Chapels from 8 to 9:30 in the morning with Mass of the Christian Burial to follow at 10 o'clock at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery with Father Ron Machado officiating.
 
Ronald was born October 20, 1943 to Bernie M. Klos and Myroslaw Prokopec in Detroit, Michigan. He lived in Deming for many years and later moved to Albuquerque where he was a member of Holy Ghost Parish.
 
Survivors include relatives John Sallack, Sandra Sallack, Susan Graham and Donna Morton  all from out of state.
 
His parents preceded him in death.

Frances A. Joseph, 88, a resident of Deming, NM went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX with her loved ones by her side.

Frances was born on January 29, 1929 to Feliciano Rosas and Carmen Granado in Deming, NM. Frances was very active at St. Ann Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Apostolados. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America as a scout leader and she was also a member of Busy Hands and the Moose Lodge.

She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.  She is survived by four devoted daughters, Conchita Starkey of Tulsa, OK; Anna Rodriguez and her husband Gilbert of Deming, NM; Mary Gonzales and her husband Andy of Deming, NM and Vicky Jones and her husband Jerry of Deming, NM; one brother, Steve Rosas of Deming, NM; three sisters, Charlotte House of Deming, NM; Margaret Johnston of El Paso, TX and Leanor Morales of Silver City, NM; eleven grandchildren, Tina, Yvette, Michael, Gibby, Deanna, Victor, Jenifer, Monica, Andy, B.W and Dustin; twenty one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Robert Joseph and one sister, Rosario Palmer. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 10:30am-11am with the holy rosary beginning at 11am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Christine Milo officiating. Funeral mass will be at St. Ann Catholic Church at 12noon with Father, Manuel Ibarra officiating.

​Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Andy Gonzales Jr., B.W Jones, Dustin Jones, Victor Rodriguez, Raul Palmer and Johnny Pacheco. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels

Barbara Lynn Welz

Barbara Lynn Welz, 86, resident of Columbus, New Mexico, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017, at her home. 
 
Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
 
Barbara was born January 5, 1931, to Vivian Buelah Attaway and Robert Wesley Welz in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from Milby High School in Houston and attended South Texas Law School, graduating in 1956 as an Attorney at Law.  Barbara practiced law for 20 years in Dallas with the firm, Welz, Anderson, Rayburn and Peters. 
 
In 1976 the Lord called Barbara to preach.  She left her law practice in 1977 to study Hebrew, and she moved to Israel as an immigrant in 1981 and became a citizen in 1983.  Barbara learned to read, write and speak Hebrew and read the Bible in Hebrew.  She returned to America in 1991, living in Red River, New Mexico.
 
Barbara met her life partner Deborah Jane Olliver in 1994.  They were married August 31, 2013, in Columbus, NM.  In 1998 Barbara passed the New Mexico Bar exam and retired from law in 2004.  Barbara held Sabbath services in her home, Song in the Night Church, for the next 12 years. 
 
Barbara is survived by her spouse, Deborah Jane Olliver of the home and her siblings, Robert Wesley Welz Jr. and Nancy Evelyn Welz.
 
Barbara always wanted to be remembered as the Pastor who said, “Read your Bible!”.
