Deborah C. Pérez

Deborah C. Pérez, 79 a lifelong resident of Silver City, NM, passed away on Friday January 24, 2020 in Phoenix, Arizona with her family at her side.

Deborah also known as Mima and Eva was born March 4, 1940 in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Nicolas Castillo and Delfina Castillo. Deborah was a minister’s wife and loved to travel. She was a seamstress, excellent caregiver and an avid reader. She dedicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 12. At age 15, she married the love of her life and was married 63 years. To all those whose lives she touched, she is most remembered for her selflessness and the unconditional love she showed.

She is survived by her children Mike (Joyce), Angela Jean, Debra Marie, Timothy (Elizabeth), Samuel (Marsella), 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers; Rudy, Joshua, Samuel, Nahum, and her sisters; Naomi, Lily, Delfina, and Jemimah. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Mike A Perez, her parents, Nicolas and Delfina, 9 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5 from 10:30-11am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Funeral Service to follow at 11am with her son Rev. Timothy Perez  officiating.  

Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

Pallbearers: Isaiah Perez, Judah Perez, Jason Marduce, Mike Harrell, Timothy Garcia Jr., JoeAdam Gallegos, Matthew Gallegos, Richard Bauch.

Darrell Eugene Lovelace

Darrell Eugene Lovelace was called home on January 24,2020. 

He was born in Carrizozo, NM March 23,1956 to Dillon Lovelace and Inez (Morris) Lovelace.  He was the oldest of three boys.  Darrell attended Deming High School and joined the Air Force right out of high school where he served as a missile mechanic from April 1974 to April 1978 when he received an Honorable Discharge.  Upon returning home from the Air Force, he worked in construction and later became a truck driver which he loved.   He loved being with his children and grandchildren, family and friends.  He is survived by his mother and stepfather. Rand and Inez Perkins of Corona, NM, his father and stepmother, Dillon and Jean Lovelace of Deming, NM, brothers Scott Lovelace (Kimberly) of Los Lunas, NM, Robin Lovelace (Donna Jo) of Los Lunas, NM, four children, Terry Lovelace (wife Lisa), of St. Regis Montana, Nicoma Hobbs of Corona, NM, Jennifer Lovelace of Scandia, KS, Jacquelyn Parisi (husband Matt) of Early, TX, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.   Darrell is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willis and Ruby Lovelace, maternal grandparents, Vernon and Cassie Morris as well as four grandsons, Ronald, Travis, Ayden, and Axton.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will then begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor, George Gillespie officiating.

Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View cemetery.

Judith R. Gonzales

Judith R. Gonzales, 60, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, January 24, 2020 at Gila Regional Medical Center. She was born August 30,1959 in Silver City, NM to David Armijo and Natalia Villalobos Armijo.

Judy always cared for her family and put everyone first. She treasured her life with her daughter Christina. They were partners and always together. Everyone loved and adored her. She loved hearing oldies music and the radio playing first thing in the morning. She always made you feel special no matter the date, time, or who you were. She made it a point to call you on your birthday, write you a letter, or send a gift to let you know she loved you. She was everyone’s aunt or Nina. She was truly one of a kind. She was a devote Catholic at St. Francis Newman Center. She worked hard to obtain her college degree from WNMU.

Her passion for teaching kindergarten students lasted for over 20 years at Sixth Street and Harrison Schmitt Elementary. She cherished the students and her impact was everlasting. Anywhere she would go; the students would stop her and ask, “do you remember me Mrs. Gonzales”. She always remembered every student.

She is survived by her three daughters, Valerie Wacondo (Vernon), Jennifer Powell (Tyson), Christina Gonzales, and one son Paul Gonzales (Maricela). Her companion and friend Benny Gonzales of Silver city. Her sisters Sally Armijo and Rita Gomez of Silver City; brothers David Armijo Jr. and brother Robert “Bobo” Armijo of Silver City; six grandchildren; various nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be Monday, February 3rd from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6pm.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 4th at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ezenwelem Bartholemew officiating. Concluding service and inurnment will take place at St.Vincent Catholic cemetery at 4pm.

Pallbearers will be David Armijo Jr., Josh Armijo, Paul Gonzales, Jeffrey Armijo, Brandon Reese, and Gabriel Gallegos.

Stephen Giberti, 71, a resident of San Tan Valley, AZ entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, AZ. He was born November 27, 1948 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Harold R. Giberti and Eleanor Marie O’Brien Giberti. He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Joy Giberti of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Cooper Rogers and wife Alex of CA; Mackensie Morales, and D’Glayne Giberti; three brothers, Richard “Dick” Giberti and wife Joyce of FL; Ronald “Ron” Giberti of FL; James Giberti of Vermont. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Helen Giberti; one son, Ryan Stephen Giberti (2011); one daughter, Audra Dawn Giberti (1989). A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, January 31 at 12:30pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Dr. Arizaga officiating. Anna Renee Chavez

Anna Renee Chavez, 57, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born April 9, 1962 in Silver City, NM to Robert M. Alvarado and Irene M. Chacon Alvarado. 

As a little girl, Anna enjoyed Girl Scouts, dancing lessons with Diane Ryan Studio.  She spent many weekends with her grandparents in Glenwood putting her skills she learned in Girl Scouts to work.  In high school, she enjoyed cruising main street with her friends.  She performed with the SHS Color Guard.

For many years she worked as a secretary, CNA, and caregiver.  Everyone she cared for couldn’t help but love her.  Not only did she care for people but also wanted to save every dog she came across.  Anna loved her dogs.  The most important job to her was being a mom and granny.  She spent many hours on the phone with family and friends.  She was a fighter, she fought cancer twice and won.  She is survived by her parents, Robert and Irene Alvarado; her fiancé Lazaro Javier Dominguez; two daughters, Josephine Sapien and husband Aaron of Silver City; Ramona Fresquez and husband Alex; eight grandchildren, Esperanza, Makayla, Mia and Cruzito Sapien, Angel, Ailene, Vanessa and Isaac Corona; one sister, Ymelda M. Alvarado and fiancé Arcenio McDonald; also uncles, aunts and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Irene A. Chavez.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 30th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Bill Holguin to begin at 6pm. 

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 31st at 10am at St. Francis Newman Center with Father Ezenwelem Bartholomew officiating.  The interment will be Saturday, February 1st at the Maldonado cemetery in Gila, NM.  Pallbearers will be Richard Muñoz, Joshua Alvarado, Anthony Stewart, Cameron Meyer, Gilbert Cordero, Eloy Muñoz, Jeremy Muñoz, and Joey Chavez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Santina Melendrez, Rhea Valles, Dolores Charon, and the rest of her family and friends.

Edward Alexander Lynch, 46, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at University Medical Center in El Paso, TX.

Edward was born on June 28, 1973 in Deming to Jimmie Alfred Lynch and Melinda Ignacia Campos. He is survived by his mother; five sons, Edward Jr., Jesse, Arturo, Isaiah and Ethan; eight daughters, Crystal, Jessica, Amanda, Mary, Brianna, Aubrey and Analexi; two brothers, Mickey A. Campos and his companion Nicolette of Tucson, AZ and Jimmy A. Lynch and his wife Betty of Deming, NM; two sisters, Altagracia G. Peña and her husband Michael of Albuquerque, NM and Angelica Butz and her companion Jacob of AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9-10am with the funeral service beginning at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. Concluding with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Fernando Arenibas, Andrew Arenibas, Rian Arenibas, Michael Peña, Jimmy Lynch and Jessie Lynch.

Valentin M. Bustamante

Valentin M. Bustamante, 88, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his residence. Valentin was born on April 1, 1931 to Concepcion Bustamante and Magdalena Martinez in Rodey, NM.

Leadership, Honesty and Hardworking are just a few words that describe Valentín.  Born in Rodey, NM on Ash Wednesday, his parents and grandparents instilled qualities ranging from being hard working and responsible, to religion and politics.  In 1947, he took a job with Southern Pacific Railroad in Deming, where he met the love of his life, Irene Milo. He was drafted in to the US Army, and returned from Korea in 1953. The two were married on January 24, 1954 at St. Ann Catholic Church and made their home in Deming, where they raised five children. 

The two worked hard and made many sacrifices to give their children the opportunities they never had, plus “a little bit more”. Valentin worked with the NM State Highway Department from 1947 until his retirement in 1985.  In 1983, he managed the District One maintenance shop, which was his dream job.


Over and above his employment with the highway department, Valentin was active in various organizations and movements, not only as a member, but also holding office.  In 1970, he was instrumental, through collective bargaining, to get the highway workers their employee benefits, and organized and held office with the AFSCME (AFL-CIO) for six years.  He was active with the Democratic Party, holding office for 15 years, and with the DAV.  He also served two terms as a Luna County Commissioner at which he was successful in obtaining appropriations for Luna County infrastructure improvements, specifically State Highway 9.

His passions were his Faith, family, dancing and eating his wife’s homemade apple pies.  Beginning as early as 1958, and for 30 years, he was a member and president of the St. Ann’s Men’s Club and CCD program.  He was chairman for many years of the church BBQ, and a fourth degree member of local Knights of Columbus.  He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Irene M. Bustamante; two sons, Andres M. Bustamante of Phoenix, AZ and Valentin M. Bustamante and his wife Lori of Gilbert, AZ; three daughters, Luisa Ana Bustamante of Santa Fe, NM; Patricia B. Alarcon and her husband Manuel of Chula Vista, CA and Veronica B. Mitchell and her husband Scott of Lakewood, CO; one brother, Lorenzo Bustamante and his wife Juanita of Las Cruces, NM; three sisters, Pricilla Jeremiah of Albuquerque, NM; Dominica Marquez and her husband Leonzo of Las Cruces, NM and Evangelina Casaus and her companion Gene of Albuquerque, NM; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; three brothers, Bonifacio Bustamante, Francisco Bustamante, Cesario Bustamante; one sister, Gloria Tarin and one great granddaughter, Xochitl Elena Viramontes.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 5-6pm at St. Ann Catholic Church. Holy rosary will then begin at 6pm with Lucy Alvarado officiating. Funeral mass will be on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10am at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father, Manuel Ibarra officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jaime Alarcon, Elias Alarcon, Alex Bustamante, Max Bustamante, Daniel Mitchell and Victor Holguin. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Tarin, Steve Tarin, Cosme Alvarado, Tony Ruiz, Manuel “Colonel” Torres.

Carolina O. McDonald, 102, a resident of Lordsburg, NM entered eternal rest Friday, January 17, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. 

She was born September 23, 1917 in Kelly, NM to Manuel and Victoria Marrufo Ozeta.  Carolina worked as a nurse, caregiver, housekeeper and farmer. 

She is survived by two sons, Angel McDonald and wife Ginger of El Paso, TX; John McDonald and wife Paulette of Glide, OR; five daughters, Susie De La Garza of McFarland, CA; Lucy Crowder of Magdalena, NM; Mary Villa and husband David of Lordsburg; Maggie Ramirez of Yucaipa, CA; Dorie McDonald and companion Sonny of Lordsburg; nineteen grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; thirty great great grandchildren; one great great granddog; numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John T. McDonald, one brother, Cornelio Ozeta, three sisters, Antonio Tarango, Inez Vargas, and Belen Montoya; two grandsons, John Ramirez and Damien De La Garza. 

Visitation will be Saturday, January 25th at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lordsburg.  The funeral mass will follow at 10:30am. 

Concluding service and interment will follow at Mountainview Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Robert Gandara, Bo Martinez, Marcus Martinez Jr., Vincent McDonald, Cory McDonald, and Taran Rogers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ramon Mata, Sonny Romero, Jake Callaway, Jase McDonald, Derryn Martinez, and Gabriel Martinez.

Regan Joel Jimenez, age 39 of Silver City NM, entered eternal rest on January 15, 2020.

He is survived by his parents Julio "Butter " and Evelyn Jimenez of Silver City, a daughter Madylin Jane Jimenez of Santa Clara, NM; a brother, Ivan Jimenez and wife Patty Jimenez from Safford AZ; two nephews, Devyn Jimenez and Noah Harzewski of Las Cruces, NM, his grandmother, Elia Jimenez of Santa Clara, NM, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Regan was a natural athlete. He loved shooting hoops, playing baseball and especially enjoyed spending time with his nephew Devyn. His favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a talented artist. He was known for making people laugh until they cried.

He especially enjoyed studying the Bible and was eager to share what he learned. He had a firm belief in the Bible teaching about the resurrection of the dead and living forever on a paradise earth.

Regan had a heart of gold and enjoyed spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

​Lawrence “Larry” V. Salas, 68, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born March 16, 1951 in Santa Rita, NM to Manuel M. and Juanita Valerio Salas.  He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corp.  He is survived by his wife, Ramona Salas of Bayard; two sons, Larry Salas Jr., of Albuquerque; Isaac Salas of Albuquerque; two daughters, Yvonne Hernandez and husband Michael of Bayard; Lillian Salas and companion David Godoy of Carlsbad, NM; two step-daughters that he raised as his own, Elizabeth Cardenas and husband Israel of Las Cruces; Olga Castillo of Phoenix, AZ; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, David Salas of San Antonio, TX; Robert “Bobby” Salas of Sierra Vista, AZ; one sister, Sally Salas of Albuquerque; sister in-law, Lucille Salas of Bayard; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Manuel “Manny” Salas.  Visitation will be Monday, January 20th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Richard Rodriguez to begin at 6pm.  The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 21st at 9:30am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Paulus Kao officiating.  Concluding service and interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors.  Pallbearers will be James Salas, Rudy Valerio, Michael Hernandez, David Godoy, Abel Garcia, and Michael (Spike) Hernandez.   Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren, Paul Cabrera, Delia (hermana) Cabrera and their boys.  Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.  To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com
