Karl Daniel King, known as Danny King, 66 years old, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2017, at his home in Deming New Mexico surrounded by his family. Danny was the husband of Laurie Ann King and they shared 42 years of marriage together.

Born in Deming New Mexico, he was the son of Henry and Ruth King. As a young man he would fly his hang glider from the tops of the Florida mountains and he harbored a great love of the outdoors that never waned. He graduated from Deming High School in 1969 and attended New Mexico State University. After attending NMSU he completed a nine-year internship with the late Rosie Gray and served all of Southwest New Mexico as a professional Land Surveyor in his own private practice known as King Surveying for 27 years, and then another 15 years as head Land Surveyor with the New Mexico State Highway Department. His love of learning was evident with the retention of his license and continuing education well after his retirement in October 2013.

Danny was always quick to help those in need and had a servant’s heart. He was generous to a fault and had a sterling quality of patience. Never has there been a better or more loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was deeply loved by his family and his community and will be forever missed. Through his brief but severe period of illness with metastatic melanoma of the brain leading to his death, he maintained an unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his mother Ruth, his mother-in-law Skippy, his wife Laurie, his brother David, his sister Kay, his brothers and sisters-in-law Scott, Mike, Matthew, Karen and Kimberly, his aunt Rachel and her children, Paul, David J., Joanne and Martha, his cousin Betty Jean, his son Wesley and daughter-in-law Imelda, his daughter Amber and son-in-law Roman, his grandchildren Giovanni, Daisy, Nathan, Isabella, Devon and Nikaiah, and his many nieces and nephews and their children, Paul, Rochelle, Kailynn, Andrew, Rebecca, Lael, Lawson, Eliana, Christy, Caleb, Micah, Daniel, Abigail, Lauren, Ashley, Stephanie, Kimberly, Katie, Johanna, Levi, Victoria and Sarah, and his adopted God-daughter Abby Reed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Lee King and his brothers-in-law, Larry Ray Clayton and Michael Leon Jackson.

Following Danny’s wishes, no formal services will be held. His family would however like to invite his many friends to a drop-in reception to celebrate his life. The reception will be held at 615 S. Gold St. in downtown Deming New Mexico from 3 to 5 PM on Sunday, December 31st, 2017.  The building is located across the street from the courthouse park, behind the Farmer’s Insurance building that used to be Danny’s Land Surveying office, King Surveying. Please feel free to park behind and next to the Farmer’s Insurance building.

The family would love for his friends to write down a favorite memory of Danny to be read at a later date during the private inurnment of his cremains.
