Joe "Oleo" Milo Jr.

Joe “Oleo” Milo Jr., 56, lifelong Deming resident passed away Wednesday July 19, 2017 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.
 
Visitation will begin Monday morning, July 24, 2017 at 9 o’clock in the morning at Holy Family Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 9:30 led by Eddie Diaz.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o’clock with Fr. Ronald Machado, Pastor, officiating.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
 
“Oleo” as he was affectionately known, was born April 18, 1961 to Olga Madrid and Joe Milo Sr. in Deming.  He was a graduate of Deming Public Schools and was involved with the operation of the family business, J & J Printing, until his death.  Oleo was first elected to represent Luna County Commission District 1 in November of 2010 and was re-elected to a second four-year term in November of 2014. He served as chair of the commission in 2015.  Oleo coached his children throughout T-Ball, Little League and softball.  He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and was one of the founders of the Florida Bowhunters Archery Club. A most important part of his life was enjoying his grandchildren and serving in the political arena. 
 
Oleo is survived by wife, Anna Milo of the home; father, Joe L. Milo Sr. (Tina) of Deming; 3 sons, Michael Milo and wife Connie of Bayard, Christopher Milo and wife Mariana of Las Cruces, Aaron Milo and wife Danielle of Deming; daughter, Jessica Milo and husband Jesse Lucero of Las Cruces; sisters, Irma and Sandy Milo of Deming; 12 grandchildren, EJ, Michael Jr., Alec, Jazmine, Jamie Jo, Juliana, Christopher Jr., Isaac, Aaron Jr. and Mikayla Milo, Jesse Jr. and Jacob Lucero.  Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by mother, Olga Milo; maternal grandparents, Jose and Rosa Madrid; paternal grandparents, Gonzalo and Maria Milo and in-laws, Ed and Isabel Hooten.
 
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael, Christopher, Aaron and EJ Milo, Jesse and Jesse Lucero Jr.  Honorary pallbearers named are Michael Jr., Alec, Jazmine, Jamie Jo, Juliana, Christopher Jr., Isaac, Aaron Jr., Mikayla Milo and Jacob Lucero.   
 
Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
