Helen Nadine Bell

Helen Nadine Bell passed away peacefully at Beehive Homes of Deming on January 14, 2021.

Nadine was born November 8, 1927 in Douglas, Wyoming. Where she grew up and lived until she met the love of her life and moved to Arizona as a bride. They first lived in Jerome where she helped raise three beloved nephews whom she adored. They then settled in Bisbee for over 55 years. She loved living there and always wished she could return one day. There she raised her daughter, was a proud dance mom and actively involved in the PTA. She liked to crochet, paint, read, watch old movies and keep in touch with family. Some of her fondest memories came from her love of entertaining family. She was the family historian and loved to share her knowledge and stories with everyone. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Mann; Grandchildren, Steffanie Mann, Matthew Mann and his wife Monica; two great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Marissa, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by both her parents, husband Harry Vernon Bell, Infant son, Douglas Vernon Bell, Brother Franklin Skelton, and three nephews. Tj, Kenneth and Harold Griffin.

Cremation has taken place at Terrazas crematory.

Helen will be laid to rest with her husband in Bisbee, AZ.

Patricia Cecilia Cruz

PATRICIA CECILIA CRUZ, 68, resident of Deming passed away Saturday January 16, 2021 at the SW Rehabilitation Center of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.

Visitation will be Monday January 25, 2021 at 9 o’clock in the morning at the Cedar Hills Church of the Cross, 5550 Stern Drive in Las Cruces where funeral services will begin at 10 o’clock with Pastor Caleb T. Perez officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Deming. Church capacity is 75 and Covid – 19 restrictions will be in place.

Patricia was born July 5, 1952 in Los Angeles, California to Pedro and Carmen Gonzalez Ceniceros. She has lived in Deming since 1990 having previously lived in Bayard, NM. Locally she was employed at Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Antonio Cruz of Deming; sons, Peter De La O of Deming, Jerry De La O of Las Cruces, Phillip De La O of Artesia and stepson Mario Cruz of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Yvonne Otts of Albuquerque, step daughter Myra Cruz of Chihuahua, Mexico; brother Patrick Ceniceros of Orange County, CA; sister Diane Montano of Las Vegas, Nevada; 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepson Jose Cruz, sister Irene Camacho, and grandson Lawrence Garcia.

Pallbearers will be Robert Ramirez, Peter, Jerry, Eric, Timothy and Phillip De La O.

Sam D. Baca, 75, longtime Deming resident, mayor and businessman peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The rosary will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM, officiated by Fr. Ron Machado. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM celebrated by Fr. Prakasham Babu and Fr. Ron Machado, followed by concluding services and interment with military honors at Mt. View Cemetery. Due to capacity restrictions, church services will be live streamed. He is survived by his brother, Fernando “Buddy” Baca of Deming, numerous nieces and nephews and professional family. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Elena Baca; sisters Clara and Nora; and brothers Adan, Ramon, and Julian.
Pallbearers will be Paul Baca, “Coach” Sandoval, Tony Saenz, Max Eddings, Jesse Valencia, and Ricardo Molina. Honorary pallbearers are his fellow Directors from First New Mexico Bank: G.G. Gore, Dr. John Lundy, Teresa Molina, Richard Patterson, Jakub Sherman, and Gary Shiflett, along with close colleague John Strand and very good friend Olivina Ortiz.

Edmundo “Eddie” Rodriguez

Edmundo “Eddie” Rodriguez, 71, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.

Eddie was born on April 17, 1949 in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose B. Rodriguez and Josefina Esparza. Eddie was an amazing Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was an exceedingly kind man, who would always put his family first. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and spending time outdoors. He was an all-around craftsman with a creative mind. He enjoyed movies about hunting and animals especially horses, and he loved watching his Dallas Cowboys. He was the happiest when we had family time for a holiday or for a weekend cookout. He loved his family so much that anytime he wanted to express it to us he could hardly hold back the tears. The love he shared with the family is what will continue to keep us together. Pops you will be missed, We Love You. He is survived by his wife Maria “Nellie” Rodriguez; four sons, Eddie Rodriguez and his wife Gloria of Deming, NM; Daniel Rodriguez and his companion Lucenda Perales of Deming, NM; Gilbert Rodriguez and his companion Dwan Alvarado of Las Cruces, NM and Michael Rodriguez and his wife Maggie of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Lisa Rodriguez of Deming, NM and Katrina Altamirano and her husband Leonard of Morenci, AZ; two brothers, Jose Luis Rodriguez and his wife Vera of Douglas, AZ and Freddie Rodriguez and his wife Carmen of Deming, NM; four sisters, Hortencia Villegas of Deming, NM; Mary Angel Prieto of Deming, NM; Rosemary Guerrero and her husband Teodoro of Las Cruces, NM and Hilda Terrazas and her husband Carlos of Bayard, NM; fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents; two brothers, Rogelio Rodriguez and Rodolfo Fito Rodriguez and one sister, Romelia Almanza.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 10:30-11:30am at St. Ann Catholic Church with the rosary beginning at 11:30am with Lucy Villegas officiating.

Funeral mass will the begin at 12noon with Father, Prakasham Babu officiating.

Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Eddie Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez, Gilbert Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Leonard Altamirano and Manny Almanza.

Due to covid restrictions only 25% church capacity is allowed, and you must wear a mask at all times.

Leticia, A, Morphew “Lety” age 62 a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday January 9, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.

Leticia was born on August 9th, 1958 to Isaac V. Reyes and Mary S. Reyes in Deming, New Mexico. Leticia is survived by her five children, Sonia Salas and her husband Tommy of Mesa, Arizona; Angelica Porras and companion Johnny Medina of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Isaac Porras and his wife Brittany of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Vanessa Reyes and her companion Richie Ortiz of Deming, New Mexico; & Shelly Morphew companion Robert Garcia of Fort Stockton, Texas. She is survived by 23 grandchildren: Javier Carrazco (Wife Destiny), Sierra Hughes (Husband Michael), Roman (Wife Jolissa), Isaac & Noah Salas, Brianna, Taylor, Anissa, Zoe, Mia, & Nevaeh Zamora, Jasmine Rodriguez, Aaliyah, Abigail, Alissa, Anastasia, Amari Porras, Alexia, Matthew, Aliyana, Adriana & Eli Chavira & Randy Morphew; & 4 great grandchildren Avah Carrazco, Sophia & Braxton Hughes, & Xavier Hobbs. Also survived by one sister Irene Martinez (Reyes), three brothers Paul Reyes (Wife Karen), Arthur Reyes (Wife Alice), Eloy Sedillos (Wife Robyn) and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents Isaac and Mary Reyes; her husband Randall G. Morphew; her sister Ruthie Meza; her brother Gus Reyes; & her grandson Miguel Andres Porras. Leticia enjoyed working as a Sherriff Reserve Deputy, spending time outdoors, she loved to craft and make ceramics, she loved watching the Selena movie with her grandchildren, and she loved country music; with George Strait being her favorite.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Ann Catholic Church from 10-11am with the funeral mass beginning at 11am with Father, Manuel Ibarra officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain View cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Art Reyes, Paul Reyes, Matthew Chavira, Isaac Porras, Roman Salas and Tommy Salas. Honorary pallbearers are Irene Martinez, Virginia Ponce, Mariah Martinez and Richie Ortiz.

Angelica Esperanza Torrez, 67, a resident of Deming, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Memorial Medical Hospital in Las Cruces, NM.

Angelica was born on February 19, 1953 to Jose Antonio Vasquez de la Torre and Olga Guzman in Zacatecas, Zacatecas, Mexico. She is survived by her husband, Arnoldo Torrez; three sons, Victor Davila and his wife Hilda of CA; Oscar Pacheco Jr. of Deming, NM and Jose Pacheco and his wife Natalie of Las Cruces, NM; three daughters, Brenda Santos and her husband Agustin of Deming, NM; Daisy Torrez of Deming, NM and Soraima Torres and her husband Raudel of Deming, NM; two sisters, Leticia Vasquez and her husband Hugo of CA and Olga Vasquez of CA; fourteen grandchildren, Myra, Alexis, Dayanara, Yaileny, Yaritza, Yurany, Maximiliano, Alexander, Myranda, Oscar III, MaryJane, Mariah, Marcus and Layla and one great granddaughter, Adelina. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers, Armando Vasquez and Jose Antonio Vasquez; one grandson, Andrew Alexander Torrez.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 10:30-11:30am with the holy rosary beginning at 11:30am at St. Ann Catholic Church. Joe M. Martinez, 76, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest December 19, 2020 at Lovelace Medical in Albuquerque, NM.

He was born July 16, 1944 in Fierro, NM to Jose Martinez and Damacia Montoya Martinez.

He is survived by one brother, Pete Martinez Sr. and wife Isabel of Silver City; sister in-law, Antonia Martinez; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Angel and Jose Martinez; one sister, Veda Martinez.

No service was held per his wishes.

Cremation took place at Terrazas Crematory.

Reina Salaiz Chavez

Reina Salaiz Chavez, 76, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was bon November 20, 1944 in Silver City, NM to Albino Salaiz and Benita De La O Salaiz. Reina loved her family very much. Reynaldo took care of her till the end. She enjoyed spending time with her friend Sally Portillo. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time on her Ipad, playing games and loved spending time and talking to her grandchildren. She is survived by Raynaldo S. Chavez of Santa Clara; one daughter, Barbara C. Moreno (Ramon Garcia); six grandchildren, Nicole Moreno and friend Daniel Hernandez; Diana Patterson (Michael); Martena Reina Campolla (Juan Jose); Michelle Moreno, Natalie Hope, Hailey Joy, and Emiliano Anthony Moreno Hernandez; two brothers, Albert Salaiz (Gloria) of NV; Robert Salaiz (Mary) of NV; Art Salaiz (Priscilla) of Silver City; one sister, Henrietta Lopez of Silver City; a friend of the family, Betty Aragon of Silver City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Isabel C. Chavez; five brothers, Joe D. Lopez, Ramon Lopez, Raymundo Lopez, Albino Salaiz, and Alto Salaiz; two sisters, Angie Morones and Ester Kirker.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 13th from 10-10:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with the holy rosary being recited by Deacon Art Gutierrez to begin at 10:30am. The funeral mass to follow at 11am with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory concluding service. Inurnment will take place at Fort Bayard National Cemetery on Thursday, January 14th. Pallbearers are Daniel Chavez, Reynaldo Chavez, Alfred Chavez, Juan Jose Campolla, Daniel Hernandez, and Ramon Garcia Jr.

Mina E. Baca, 98, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Sunset Vista in Silver City.

She was born February 25, 1922 in Springerville, AZ to Miguel Baca and Felipa Brum Baca. She is survived by one son, Herman Garcia and wife Anita of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Charlotte Andazola and husband Henry of Silver City; Sylvia Molinaro and husband Dante of Richmond, TX; seven grandchildren, Deborah (Diego Villalba),Greg and wife Denise Andazola, Monica Andazola and partner Steve Grijalva, Phillip and wife Kathy Garcia, Lisa Garcia, Marni and husband Kyle Marrero, and Marlo Molinaro; fifteen great grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Facio of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Willie Garcia; one brothers, Mike Baca; two sisters, Lena Gadbois and Julia Velarde.

The holy rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 12th at 9am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting.

The funeral mass will follow at 9:30am with Father Casmir Anozie officiating.

Cremation will take place concluding service. Inurnment will take place on Wednesday, January 13th at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.

Joe A. Bierner

Joe A. Bierner, 79, of Silver City, NM passed away Thursday, December 25th at Gila Regional Medical Center. Joe was born October 14, 1941 in Hot Springs, NM. He was the son of Joe M. Bierner and Ruth A. Bierner. Joe was born and raised on ranches in Sierra County. He was lovingly known as “Little Joe”, “Little Hot Shot”, and later “Joe Texaco”. He definitely learned the cowboy code. He lived it. Live each day with courage. Take pride in your work. Always finish what you start. Do what has to be done. Be tough; but fair. When you make a promise, keep it. Talk less, say more. He was a member of the Sheriff’s Posse and Lions Club. He was a team roper and enjoyed his horses, music, beer, scraping, playing pool and cutting wood. He had an appreciation for Western art. He was an old cowboy with integrity and a man of his word.

He is survived by four children, Brenda Calahan, William Billy Bierner, Bernadette Bierner (Johnny Arroyo), Brian Bierner (Crystal); his grandchildren, Nichole Hernandez (Eddie), Joshua Navarro, Damien Robles (Andrea), Destiny Robles, Briana and Brittany Bierner; ten great grandchildren; numerous special friends and neighbors, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ernestine Murillo Bierner; his parents, his in-laws, Joe G. Murillo and Thelma Sierra Murillo; one sister, Edwina Taylor.

He will be taken to his final resting place in Monticello, NM at a later time. As his headstone says: He believed. The last goodbyes the hardest on to say—And this where the cowboy rides away. Dad: Your life was a blessing and your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory.
