He was born June 1, 1938 in Montgomery, Indiana to Thomas Healy and Wilma Jean Ledgerwood Healy. Steve’s family moved to Morenci, AZ in 1948 where he made lifelong friends and graduated in 1956. He went to college at Northern Arizona University and met his wife of over 56 years. One of his more notable assignments was working on the crew who helped locate parts and clean up after the Shuttle Challenger crashed over Texas.

He moved to Silver City in 1974 where he set down roots and raised his family.
