SHERIFF JOHN A. MOORADIAN, 48, passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

A memorial service will be Wednesday January 11, 2017 at 10 o’clock in the morning at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center with Pastor Cesar Chavez of CitiLife Church officiating.  Inurnment with honors will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

John was born May 18, 1968 in Garden Grove, California to Archie and Helen (Ingle) Mooradian.  His family came to Deming in 1984 from New Jersey and in 1986 he graduated from Deming High School.  He worked for Barker Oil for some time but always had a sincere interest in law enforcement.  He began his career in the Luna County Reserves and 21 years later, in 2014 he was elected Luna County Sheriff.  John loved this community and was always attentive to the people no matter when or where he would meet them.  He especially loved his family and they spent many outings riding ATV’s and enjoying the outdoors together.  John was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michelle Mooradian of the home; children, Rheganne Mooradian of Las Cruces, Joshua Mooradian of Deming; brothers, Michael Mooradian of Denver, Colorado, Christopher Mooradian of Deming; sister, Sherry Ingle of Deming; and numerous extended family members.

Urn bearers will be Kelly Gannaway, Frank Pena, Mike Brown, Tommy Mora, Alonzo Munoz, Sam Sadler.

Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels and Mimbres Crematory.

He was a straight shooter. I remember when we all would get together and cruise our low pro trucks on Friday. The memories are still there and always will be. Rest in peace old friend.

I am truly saddened when a brother in arms falls. I have seen too many in both the Navy and law enforcement, there is always one more. I know that John has gone on to a Heavenly Homecoming and that the Good Lord will grant his family peace and comfort in time. God Bless you John.
