
Rudy grew up in Silver City, New Mexico with his parents Lucas and Atha and his siblings Russel, Carmen and Raymond. All his life he enjoyed music. He played drums for local cover bands, Chuchillo, (Knife) and Yo Tu Yed (Me, You, and Him). His run as a musician spanned nineteen years. His band covered rock and Spanish favorites.
Susie Benavidez Triviso was the love of Rudy’s life. They dated for ten years enjoying the outdoors and the local music scene. They married in 1978.
Their first son Aaron was born in 1984 and Randy in 1985. They were a close family and cared for several pets. Their cats were Wampus, Weenie, Grey Boy, White Man, Leòn and Gladys and a German Shepard, Zeke.
To support his family, Rudy was a truck driver at various local companies. The longest in duration was for Southwest Concrete and Paving.
Rudy cared for Suzie through her eight year battle with ALS. She passed away in 2016. Her passing brought the family even closer together. Rudy lived each day for the betterment of his sons, after the passing of their mother.
Rudy was full of jokes. He loved football (The Washington Commanders) and be billiards. Rudy loved all of God’s Creation and saw beauty in everything.
He is survived by two sons, Aaron Valencia of Silver City; Randy Valencia and companion Mindy Sandoval of Silver City; one brother, Russell Valencia and wife Rachel of Silver City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susie; one brother, Raymond Valencia; one sister, Carmen Placencio.
Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
