Visitation will be Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 1:30 to 2:30 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel where funeral services will begin at 2:30 with Pastor Chuck Workman officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
He was born February 6, 1939 to Florence B. Condron Dickey and Robert K. Dickey at Stoney Point Farm near Smicksburg, PA. The second of 4 boys. Paul was a very curious child and spent hours exploring the fields and woods, turning over stones seeking the critters lurking under them. His elementary school years were at West Mahoning Consolidated School. He graduated in 1957 from Dayton Joint High School, Dayton, PA. At 17 years of age, Paul bought a Vespa motor scooter and found the freedom of the road. At age 18, he sold the Vespa, and bought an Indian Chief motorcycle which he rode to California where he worked at the Chevrolet assembly plant in Van Nuys, CA until he was laid off. He hitch-hiked back home and did one year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 1963 he married Margaret Charlene Peirce and they had 3 children: David W Dickey, Barbara J (Dickey) Cox and Steven E Dickey.
hile living in Arlington, VA, Paul worked for a bus company as a mechanic and then for a truck shop before working for XEROX Corp in 1965. His first job with XEROX was on the 2nd floor of the Pentagon and later had territories in Arlington County and in Hagerstown, MD. In 1969 the family built their first house on White Oak Rd in Mt. Aetna, MD where they lived until 1976 when they moved to Deming, NM.
Paul continued working for XEROX and after 36 years he retired in 2001. With his love of travel, the family took many summer vacations exploring the United States. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Dickey, parents Robert and Florence Dickey, and older brother Tom Dickey. He is survived by his children: David W. Dickey of Grand Junction, CO, Barbara J. Cox (Rex) of Payson, AZ., Steven E Dickey (Janice) of Safford, AZ, brothers Dale Dickey (Mary Jo) of Biglerville, PA, William Dickey of Smicksburg, PA, two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was an active member of the Deming Seventh-day Adventist Church.
