KENNETH C. MELTON, 87, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Saturday July 3, 2021 in Las Cruces.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 7, 2021 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Baca’s Funeral Chapel where funeral services will begin at 3 o’clock with Bon Simmons officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
Kenneth was born September 3, 1933 in Ada, Oklahoma to Willis and Edgilee (Moore) Melton. He came to Deming at an early age and was a mechanic at several local businesses including Rex Null’s Garage, Brem Chevrolet, and eventually the city of Deming from which he retired.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and shared his interest in the outdoors by teaching Hunter Safety Courses. Kenneth was also a HAM Radio Operator.
He is survived by his children, James “Jim” Brown (Teresa) of Tyler, Texas, Dirk C. Melton (Teresa) of Mesa, AZ, and Debra JoAnne Lewis (Terry) of Las Cruces; brother Duane Melton of Round Rock, TX; sister Laona Simmons of Deming; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Melton, 2 sons, Kenneth and Kyle Melton, and 2 brothers, Weldon and Roger Melton.
Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels and Mimbres Crematory.
