JoNell was a kind, happy and cheerful person with a great sense of humor. She was somewhat objective, mostly reasonable and as we jokingly say amongst ourselves; she stubbornly defended her own opinions. She was an excellent cook, great housewife and a devoted wife / mother… and above all the best Grandma / Gram / G-ma. She knew no strangers and everyone who met her called her family. Her lessons of life have been shared with us and we all have learned through her actions; a bravery beyond measure.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Scalzi and husband Len of La Quinta, CA; Lori Berridge and husband David of Silver City; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Douglas Moss (’04); her daughter, Debbie Upton; her brother, T.J. Hancock; five sisters, May Hightower, Allean Hightower, Maude Rowland, Hazel Trewern, and Faye Augustine.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 8th at 2pm at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.
