James Wood, 68, of Deming, New Mexico, entered into eternal rest on November 12th on his ranch. James, “Jim”. graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1973. He went on to become an electrician and own Wood Electric inc. He married the love of his life Susan Wood in 1978. After many years in the electric business, he decided to follow his dreams and purchased the Wood Cattle Company ranch in Deming, NM, moving there in 1997. James continued to build dreams for his family, wanting his grandsons to have a strong foundation to grow from. His grandsons were his world and every minute he got to spend with them brought him so much love and happiness.
James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Susan Wood, his daughter and son Jodie and John Bookout, his grandsons Riley, Reuben, Ryder, Ryndon, and Rance, all of Deming, NM, his brother Jess (Carol) Wood of Kiowa, Colorado, sister Cindy (Terry) Buttram of Alamogordo, NM, sister Kathy Grant of Fort Worth, TX, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Jedidiah Wood and his parents Carrol and Edna Wood.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 8:30am-9:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the funeral service beginning at 9am with Rick Holdridge officiating. Concluding services with an interment will be at Mountain Acres Cemetery in Mayhill, NM at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Southwest New Mexico State Fair Livestock Department. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to Luna County Extension Service at 210 B. Poplar St. Deming, NM 88030 c/o Jack Blandford.
