Jack W. Burk

Jack W. Burk, 91, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Monday, May 25, 2020 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara, NM. 

He was born June 18, 1928 in Anson, Texas to William E. Burk and Sally Emma Johnson.  Jack a.k.a Poppy to all of his grandkids and great grand kids. He loved to spend time with them any chance he got.  He spent a lot of time with his two grandkids Cody and Chelsea, picking them up from school every day, going to all of their sporting events. 

He loved to play and coach softball. He coached several different softball teams all of which included his granddaughter Chelsea.

One of the best memories that his family has is going to feed Poppies horses.  Everyone will tell you that was one of their best times with Poppy. Poppy also had a special little buddy Adoins “Cody” England. They spent a lot of time together. They had a special time when Adonis would spend the night. Poppy also liked to hunt and fish he loved the outdoors. Poppy would take his grandson Cody on special fishing trips he would pack a special lunch of bologna sandwiches. He also loved his animals. He had a variety of animals from horses, to ducks, to rabbits and of course all his dogs and cats.  Poppy was a very giving man. He helped everyone he knew and would also give to different charities.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of Silver City; one daughter, Becky Cooper and husband Brad of Silver City, NM; one step-daughter, Diane Simons and husband Michael of Austin, TX; two step-sons, David Donaldson and wife Jennifer of Dallas, TX, and Thomas Donaldson of Deming, NM; two grandchildren, Cody and Chelsea Cooper; 4 great-grandchildren, Cody Jr., Zayden, Jackson, and June Cooper; nine step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; his parents; one brother, Evert Burk; one sister, Eunice Weaver; one stepdaughter, Julie Romine; and one stepdaughter-in-law, Cindy Donaldson.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Joseph Gros officiating.

Concluding service and interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. 

​Pallbearers will be Brad Cooper, Cody Cooper, Tony Sosa, Michael Simons, Craig Longwell, and Cody Cooper Jr. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
