Graveside service will be Thursday December 21, 2017 at 11 o'clock in the morning at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with Military honors according. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
David was retired after 20 years from the United States Navy. Following his retirement from the Navy, he served as Vice President and Branch Manager with Bank of America at various locations including Lancaster, California; Barstow, California and Brawley, California. Following his retirement from the Bank of America he had a colorful career serving as a DJ in real estate sales. He always enjoyed helping people.
He was always very interested in his community having served as President of Barstow Chamber of Commerce; a founding member of the Barstow Rodeo Committee and he was instrumental in bringing the auction to the Barstow Kiwanis Club. He was a 50 year member of the Ancient and Free Accepted Masons beginning his Masonic relationship in Okinawa; a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Havasu Chapter No. 61 as well as Ruth Chapter No. 6 in Deming, NM, where he served as Worthy Patron in 2010; a member of Aloha Shriners, A.A.O.N.M. of Honolulu, HI; a member of the Luna County Historical Society, serving as volunteer at the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum for the past ten years.
David leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Carol; his sister Phyllis Cook and his two sister-in-laws
Janet McLeroy and Joanne McLeroy along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Rubin McLeroy Sr. and Crystal Clorene Barrett; and his brothers Phillip and William McLeroy.
