Cruz Duran Ochoa, 90, passed away peacefully accompanied by his children Tuesday October 24, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Visitation will begin Friday afternoon, October 27th at 3 o’clock at the Holy Family Catholic Mission in Columbus where a prayer vigil will begin at 5 that evening led by Velia Yañez. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at the Holy Family Catholic Mission with Fr. Ron Machado officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Valley Heights Catholic Cemetery.
Cruz was born January 23, 1927 to Paula Ochoa and Cruz Duran in Ascencion, Chihuahua, Mexico. He moved to Columbus in 1992 coming from Mexico. He worked as a laborer in the agriculture industry and was a communicant of the Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Cruz will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his sons, Hector Duran of Columbus, Victor Alonso Duran of Mexico, Jaime Duran of Las Cruces; daughters, Luz Alicia Sanchez of Columbus, Etelvina Au of Las Cruces; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Cruz and Paula Duran, wife, Soledad Duran and his siblings.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cruz Gabriel Duran, Victor Alonso Duran, Miguel Angel Flores, Javier Au, Jorge Au and Michael Au.
Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
