Junior passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2020. Claude was born September 15, 1933 in Jackson, NM to Leola and Claude Lewis. As a small boy they lived in Mogollon and this is where he developed his love of the mountains and hunting. While in Mogollon, he roamed the mountains horseback or on a family burro. As he got older, he started working on his grandparent’s ranch as well as other area ranches.

When in the eighth grade he moved to live and work for Ethel and Joe Hooker on their ranch in Gila. He loved working for them through his high school years. He also enjoyed breaking horses for other people. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Kay Ann Shock, a union that lasted 65 years. Later in 1955 he was drafted into the U.S Army and served in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for Kennecott Copper Corp and later Phelps Dodge where he retired in 1995.

Junior loved to rope and to ride good horses, work cattle and taking numerous trips to the mountains with family and friends. He loved watching high school basketball, volleyball and track and field meets. He was proud of his children and grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife Kay Ann Lewis of the family home; two sons, Bobby K. Lewis of Cliff; Casey Lewis and wife Donna Dunkerson of San Simon, AZ; one daughter, Sheree Richins and husband Stephen of Cliff; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan), Cassidy, Tate, and Cody; two great grandchildren, Cason and Korbin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, Ashley Lewis.

Due to the pandemic, there will be a service at a later date. Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory.

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.
