Describing the life of Charles L. Quarrell is no easy task. I wish that I could play all of the memories that we carry in our hearts, and then maybe we could give you a better understanding of just how special and unique he truly was. I am so jealous of all of our loved ones in Heaven that are now enjoying this amazing man. The morning that we said "goodbye" to you, I instantly saw you walking in the mountains that you absolutely loved. I saw you sitting by the lake, with fishing rod in hand surrounded by peace. You always told us that in those moments, you were closest to God. You saw the beauty in all the secrets that those beautiful mountains contained. Even in your hunting, you were different than everyone else. It wasn’t just a sport for you, it was an art. You saw how beautiful God's creations were before you pulled that trigger, or released your grip on your bow. God, family, hunting and fishing were your everything. But you were so much more than that.
There was so much more to you that many people weren't lucky enough to know. Your passion for teaching people how to hunt, was just as intense as it was for being the one hunting. You loved passing on everything that you learned from your father, and all of the hunting videos that you watched every weekend. You wanted everyone that you taught, to know that there was so much more to the hunt then the kill. Even though the kill was a big part of it, you enjoyed everything before that moment. At the end of your life; I know that you can you look back and feel very proud of the things that you accomplished in your life. Not only in your younger years, but your adult years as well. As an adult, you were a man that wasn’t afraid of hard work and getting your hands dirty. You worked the mines splitting rock, and you were so good at it that they even made you a special sledge hammer to match your strength. With that specially made sledge hammer, you could split the rock in one blow. Your strength wasn’t your only quality, because you also worked for the public easily. You were an easy man to talk to and get along with, which is why you became so good at selling insurance. People knew that you were an honest man and always wanted to help the ones that you could. There are so many other things that you succeeded at in life, but the one that you were most proud of was your Barber Shop. You bought your shop from the previous owner who was also a good friend of yours.
It was the beginning of what became a very successful business. You may have started off on your own, but it wasn’t long before you met the love of your life. Josephine A. Quarrell not only became your wife; she became your loyal business partner. The two of you successfully ran that business until you got sick and could no longer work. For thirty-one years, you gave your business your heart and soul. Even though you could no longer continue doing what you loved; your wife continued on for both of you. The day God took you home, your salon celebrated it's thirty-eighth year. The only thing he was more dedicated to in life, was his family. He showed his daughters how a woman should be loved by her husband, and how a daughter should be loved by their daddy. I know that God has you by his side in Heaven where you belong, because you were a treasure here on Earth. You can rest easy Daddy, because we all carry you in our hearts. Your legacy was left in good hands and you will never be forgotten. Your grandchildren will grow up knowing what an amazing man you were, because we will all tell them Grandpa's stories.
They will learn the art of hunting through our memories. Living this life without you will be one of the hardest tasks that God has given us in this life, but with you by our sides as our Guardian Angel…. I know that we will all be okay.
