Our precious Jewel, Bernice D. Tarango age 62, went on to be with the Lord on August 18, 2020.
She was born December 3, 1957 to Joe F. and Guillermina De La Garza in Lordsburg, NM. Not only was she an amazing mom but also a Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Those who were around her knew she made everyone feel at home and her door was always open whether just a visit or because someone was in need.
The example she set as a Christian, leaves some pretty big shoes to fill. Our mom taught us to trust in the Lord and when we didn’t understand something, just give it to Jesus, he’s already taken care of it. Her time on this earth was tough at times but she never gave up. She pressed forward knowing God had everything under control. It didn’t take long after meeting our Founding Pastor that the Lord showed her to move us to Silver City to be under his ministry. She said she knew God dwelt in him and later we her children would all give our hearts to the Lord and were baptized. Her heart rejoiced to know this was the path God prepared for us. To See where we are today because she had the faith to take that one step and not look back. In her last days she remained strong and confident praising the Lord until she couldn’t speak anymore. She knew where she was going, and her soul rejoiced. We are so blessed to have the mamma we have. It won’t be long until we see her again.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Joseph Tarango of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Deborah Perez and her husband William of Las Cruces, NM and Dar Tarango of Las Cruces, NM; seven brothers, Jr. Renteria, Joe De La Garza, Alex De La Garza, Robert De La Garza, Matthew De La Garza, Arthur De La Garza and Patrick De La Garza; two sisters, Betty Catucci and Olga Salcido; four grandchildren, Noah Perez, Ethan Perez, Joseph Tarango and Isaiah Perez. She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous family members.
Evening service will be on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 7pm at Cedar Hills Church of the Cross 5550 Stern Dr, Las Cruces, NM with Pastor, Caleb T. Perez officiating.
Concluding services with an interment will be on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11am at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, NM.
Serving as pallbearers are Arthur Smith, Jr., Benjamin Guerra, Omar Perez, Lorenzo Garcia, Jr., David Ruiz, Levi Hom. Honorary Pallbearers: Joseph Tarango, Noah Perez, Ethan Perez, Isaiah Perez and “Grandma Bermies Little Army” Ezekiel, Sammy, Jazzy, Nehemiah, Elias, Christopher, Bellamina.
