Benigno Rodriguez Carrillo

​Benigno Rodriguez Carrillo was called to go to work on the main line of Heavens railroad by the Lord on Sunday August 27, 2017.
 
Visitation will be Friday afternoon, September 1, 2017 from 3 to 5 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel. Rosary will follow that evening at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 7o’clock.  Mass of the Christian Burial will be Saturday morning at10 o’clock at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  Concluding services and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.  Father Manuel Ibarra will officiate.
 
Benigno or “Benny” as he was known by his fellow railroad workers was born on February 13, 1930 to Maria Rodriguez and Ventura Carrillo in San Bernardo, Durango, Mexico. At a young age, Benigno came to the United States and worked on farms around the Clint and Fabens area in Texas. There he met a young lady named Anita Bañales who would become his wife of over 60 years.
 
Benigno and Anita eventually moved to New Mexico where Benigno worked on several cattle ranches and farms until he went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad until his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening around the house and planting trees around the yard. He seemed to have a green thumb as everything he planted flourished. He also cherished spending time with his many grandkids and loved playing with his dogs. Benigno attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4256.
 
Benigno is survived by his wife, Anita of the home; his sons, Armando Carrillo (Dora) of Deming, Genovevo Carrillo of Eagle Nest, New Mexico, Juan Carlos Carrillo (Tiffany) of Elko, Nevada and Antonio Carrillo of Deming; daughters, Irene Chavez (Victor Manuel) of Deming and Ana Maria Luera of Alamogordo, NM. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 
Benigno was preceded in death by his parents, children, Ascensión Carrillo, Benigno Carrillo Jr, and Elvira Carrillo Valenzuela.
 
Pallbearers will be Armando. Genovevo, Juan Carlos Carrillo, Donnie Daniels, Jacob and Austin Carrillo. Honorary pallbearers will be local councils of the Knights of Columbus.
 
Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
