Visitation will be held Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel from 3-6 pm with the limitation of 5 people at time in the chapel for viewing. Recitation of the holy rosary will be held at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church parking lot at 7:30pm which will be recited by the Apostolado. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 o’clock also at St. Ann’s parking lot with the rite of committal and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Manuel F. Ibarra, Pastor, will officiate. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 all family and friends that attend will be encouraged to remain in their vehicle’s during the rosary and funeral mass to secure the safety of our community.
Antonio was born April 15, 1932 to Teresa Payan and Apolonio Altamirano in Ascencion, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Armida Garcia on September 19, 1953 in Mexico. They moved to Deming in 1958 where he became an active member of the workforce community and both raised their family. He was a communicant of Saint Ann's Catholic Church and a member of the Apostolado.
Antonio is survived by 2 sons, Apolonio and Jose Antonio Altamirano both of Deming; 8 daughters, Hermelinda A. Mathews of Phoenix, AZ, Lupe A. (Jeff) Honeycutt of Ruidoso, Lorenza A. (Eloite) Lively of Denham, LA, Grizelda Altamirano of Mesa, AZ, Dolores A. (Margarito) Renteria, Gloria (Raul) Madrid, Julisa and Alma Altamirano all of Deming; 1 brother, Ramon Altamirano also of Deming; 33 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Apolonio and Teresa Altamirano; his wife, Armida Garcia Altamirano; 2 brothers, Manuel and Zacarias Altamirano; a sister, Consuelo Chavez and a grandson, Cesar Grajeda.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan and Troy Honeycutt, Joel Grajeda, Edgar Renteria, Matthew Daniel and Jonathan Juarez.
Family and friends who cannot attend can join in on 106.5 FM radio.
