Nellie Mae Scott

Nellie Mae Scott, 92, a resident of Deming, NM went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at her residence. Nellie was born on March 22, 1925 in Pleasanton, TX to Raymond C. Williams and Alta Elizabeth LaBauve. 

Nellie enjoyed life, she enjoyed the outdoors and indoors. She loved her grandchildren, her son and people in general. She enjoyed working on her yard and she would build little projects all on her own but most importantly she loved reading her bible. She will be truly missed by all of her family and friends. She is survived by one son, Carroll Eiland Scott Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Deming, NM; one sister Vera Elizabeth Smith of Liming, TX; two nieces who she raise, Alta Mae Shipplet and Susan Fuller;  four grandchildren, five great grandchildren;  four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by both of his parents; her husband Carroll Eiland Scott Sr.; three brothers, Coleman Williams, Joe Williams and Henry Williams; one sister, Lorene Maddox; one nephew that she raised, Danny Williams and one foster son, John Graves.Visitation will be on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 from 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. Funeral service will then begin at 10am with Brother, Norman Ruebush officiating. 

Concluding service with an interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Carroll Scott, Shawn Scott, Jimmie Carrell, Kenneth Cook, James Marsh and Adam Shipplett. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels ​

Gilbert Juarez

Gilbert Juarez, 80, a lifetime Deming resident passed away Tuesday October 31, 2017 at the Advanced Care Hospital of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.
 
A rosary will take place Monday November 6, 2017 at 6 o’clock in the evening at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church led by Lucia Montoya. Memorial mass will follow at 6:30 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
 
Gilbert was born April 21, 1937 to Sostenes Ortiz in Deming.  He served his country honorably in the National Guard Reserve.  Gilbert was a lineman and over the years worked for Mountain Bell and eventually retired from Qwest.  Gilbert was a member of the National Guard Rifle Team, a communicant of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church and member of the Rio Mimbres County Club.  He was an avid fan of the Deming Wildcats and loved to hunt. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and brought a smile to everyone he knew and met.  He will truly be missed.      
 
He is survived by his children, Isabel Juarez and companion Sammy Alvarez of Las Cruces, Irene Altamirano of Las Cruces, Gilbert Juarez Jr. and wife Debbie, Dini Ybarra and husband Albert, Rebecca Valdez and husband Jose all of Deming; Jonathan Juarez and wife Laura of Las Cruces; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
 
Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Consuelo Juarez on April 8, 2001 and son, Tony Juarez on June 13, 2015.
 
Entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
