SILVER CITY - Situated in the shadows of the 3.3 million-acre Gila National Forest, WNMU has maintained an undeniable connection to the natural world.
From academic research and recreation, students, staff and faculty have been EdVenturing into the Gila for more than a century.
As part of the university’s good stewardship to the environment, WNMU launched its ‘road to carbon neutrality by 2030’ initiative that has included the installation of solar panels on campus, three new electric vehicle (EV) chargers and continued work in the planting of trees as an officially recognized Arbor Day Foundation Tree Campus.
This year, the university will continue leading the way toward a carbon neutral future by asking state leaders for additional funding to continue the important work of ensuring the health of the natural world for future generations to enjoy.
