DEMING - The public is invided to join in on an afternoon of entertainment Feburary 17th at 4pm at The Historic Deming Depot Auditorium (the old train station by StarMax) for a concert by Swedish singer/songwriter, Sofia Talvik, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy with a twang of Americana.
Sofia, an Americana and folk singer/songwriter, regularly tours in the USA and Europe. While this is a solo tour, she travels with her own sound designer and together they create a bigger sound than what you would picture of a solo singer/songwriter. She has graced the stages at big festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW but is just as comfortable in the intimate setting of listening rooms like Hotel Café (L.A) and Caffee Lena (NY). She possesses an angelic voice and effortless guitar playing, amazing stage charisma, and a great acoustic sound without any overpowering effects or volume. Her songs go straight to the heart with engaging lyrics, and she binds them together with personal anecdotes from her many tours in the USA and Europe, creating a warm and relaxed environment for the audience. With numerous tours in the USA and Europe her talent lies as much in her music as in her way of making you feel like you’re the only one in the room with her, no matter if there is an audience of 50 or 5000.
Sofia's brand new album Center of the Universe was considered for a Grammy Nomination for Best Folk Album.

Americana Highways review of “Center of the Universe” :
“Swedish folk singer, songwriter, and guitarist Sofia Talvik has been making fine albums for many years now, but this self-produced latest entry may be her best to date. Her angelic vocals, which sound redolent of early Marianne Faithfull, remain a major asset, as are her original songs, which combine lilting melodies with frequently profound lyrics. Too few artists today offer protest material, but Talvik seems to have picked up the mantle from singer/songwriters like Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Pete Seeger.”
