DEMING - In a proactive move to enhance road safety and reduce impaired driving-related fatalities, State Police in New Mexico will be deploying sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver's license checkpoints throughout Luna and all counties during the entire month of March 2024.
The primary goal of these checkpoints is to raise awareness and prevent potential tragedies by curbing impaired driving. The State Police aim to achieve this through a combination of media attention and intensive advertising, emphasizing the importance of responsible decision-making behind the wheel.
These comprehensive efforts are designed to alter societal attitudes towards driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. By addressing the issue head-on, law enforcement authorities hope to instill a sense of responsibility among drivers, encouraging them to prioritize the safety of themselves and others on the road.
The State Police urge all drivers to cooperate with law enforcement during these checkpoints, ensuring they have proper registration, insurance, and a valid driver's license. By doing so, individuals contribute to the overall safety of our roads and help prevent potential accidents caused by impaired driving.
It is emphasized that making the right decision not to drive impaired can save hundreds of lives each year.
