DEMING – This week, during the Deming Public School’s Fall Break, Memorial Elementary School at 1000 South 10th Street will serve as the training ground for local law enforcement officers.
The officers will participate in a series of sensitive training sessions designed to equip them with the necessary skills to secure and control any potential threats to local schools.
As a result of this training, residents can expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement vehicles and activity at Memorial Elementary throughout the week.
Deming Police Chief Clint Hogan informed Deming Radio News that the Special Response Team will be undergoing additional training to handle various high-intensity situations that could potentially occur within a school campus. The 10-member team, led by Captain Jose Montoya, is expected to benefit greatly from these sessions.
Please note that the heightened police presence at Memorial Elementary School this week is solely for training purposes while the schools are on Fall Break.
