DEMING – Two staff members from the Deming Senior Center recently visited the KDEM and KOTS Radio studios and spoke with John Krehbiel about the need of volunteers at the local Senior Center.
Alexandra Acosta Cordova spoke about the local center becoming part of the AmeriCorps Volunteer organization. She said that they currently have about 100 local volunteers that work in various local area nonprofits, and said they could use at least 100 more local volunteers.
Maria Acosta spoke about the Senior visitation and Seniors in the classroom programs. She said that the Senior visitation program has volunteers go to homes of seniors and do visitation projects. The Seniors in the classroom program places seniors in Deming Schools classrooms along side the teachers.
