DEMING - The archery team from Red Mountain Middle School was victorious in the New Mexico State archery championship.
Coach Hernandez said, "Most of the kids in this program had never shot a bow. We have three, maybe four, kids who have shot before, but they use sights and release. This program required students to shoot bare bow (meaning no fiberoptic sights or trigger-release mechanisms).”
Hernandez said, "We took 1st place at the two Albuquerque tournaments we attended in January: Cougar Classic Shootout Tournament and the NASP Albuquerque City Championship. It's a first-year program at RMMS with 5 archers ranked in the top 5 boys and girls."
20 RMMS archers competed in the NASP NM state tournament at the Rio Rancho Special Events Center Saturday, March 11, 2023 competing against 20 other middle school teams. And Congratulations to the Red Mountain Middle School team placing with first place honors.
