DEMING - Last month, the Luna County Commission approved a 45-million-dollar operation budget for the fiscal year with no across the board cuts.
The budget also includes a 5% Cola for non-unionized employees. The Sheriff’s Department and the Detention Center are covered under union contracts which are currently being negotiated.
County Manager Chris Brice told Deming Radio News that the County also is expecting close to 30 million dollars in grants.
Funding for outside agency support this year is about the same as it has been in years past.
Brice said that the County’s gross receipt tax base has stabled out after an unexpected increase during the COVID-19 pandemic.
