DEMING - In a collaborative effort to beautify the community and promote environmental stewardship, students from the Deming High School JROTC and the Deming Wrestling Club will join forces with Keep Luna County Beautiful and the City of Deming for a large-scale clean-up operation on Saturday.
Approximately 40 students from the JROTC and Deming Wrestling Club, alongside their parents and volunteers, will be at Trees Lake to tackle the overgrowth of weeds and cattails that had begun to encroach upon the area. Armed with gloves, rakes, and determination, the group will restore the natural beauty of the lake, a popular fishing and recreational spot in the community.
Keep Luna County Beautiful in partnership with the City of Deming, will also focus their efforts on cleaning up trash along the multi-use path on Country Club Road and along Cedar Street. Equipped with garbage bags and litter pickers, they will comb through the area, collecting discarded bottles, wrappers, and debris that had accumulated along the sidewalks and green spaces.
The joint clean-up effort not only aimed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of these public spaces but also served as a valuable educational opportunity for the participating students.
