SILVER CITY - The Give Grandly Coalition and Grant County Community Foundation are ready to launch the tenth annual Give Grandly fundraiser for area nonprofits, which will be live and in-person at the Makers Market in downtown Silver City on Saturday, May 6th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Nonprofits create community and enrich our lives! This community day of giving is our chance to champion 63 of the many nonprofit organizations our area that help to make southwest New Mexico a special place to live. All of these nonprofits depend heavily on volunteers, grants, and donations to be able to offer their services to us.
This coming Saturday, May 6, participating nonprofits will have booths to showcase their work to the local community. Many booths will have fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. The Makers’ Market will host the event from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Main Street Plaza located off Bullard Street—that’s between 7th and 8th Streets—next to the Big Ditch Park in downtown Silver City. All day during the event, Gila Mimbres Community Radio will broadcast interviews with the nonprofits on 89.1 KURU or online at GMCR.org. Visit the booths, find out more about our local nonprofits, and donate in person. It’s all about gratitude and giving!
In celebration of our tenth anniversary, there will be lots of food and music at Give Grandly this year! Relax at the Mimosa Garden while listening to featured musical artists, including Joe Neri, Chiricahua Apache drummers, Amos Torres, Gypsy Carpenters, and DJ Ronnie Foxwit. There will also be slam poetry with Erin and Jentry, and story time with the Imagination Library, as well as presentations by Guadalupe Montessori School and Silver City Community Theater.
There are many ways you can donate during Give Grandly, and you can do so all the way to May 22nd. You can go to www.givegrandly.org and create a shopping cart of up to 10 nonprofits, then pay in one easy credit card transaction. You can use the form on the back page of the Silver City Daily Press insert and drop it, and your check, off at Grant County Community
Foundation on Pope Street. Or you can give directly to organizations at their booths on May 6th.
Donations will help each organization participating in Give Grandly 2023 to receive up to $500 in matching funds. This donation stimulus is provided by Give Grandly’s generous sponsors, who include Suzi & Janey; United Way of Southwest New Mexico; Freeport-McMoRan; Sherman Community Foundation in Deming; Griffith’s Propane; Hidalgo Medical Services; First New Mexico Bank; Better Homes and Gardens; and Vladimir Gnilozubov, Jennifer McKeen Villegas, and Niel McDonald of Edward Jones. Additional support for Give Grandly comes from grants and funds awarded by the Town of Silver City and the McCune Charitable Foundation. The entire event is supported by the Grant County Community Foundation and the media who help so much with publicity.
All donations, no matter how big or how small, are welcome, and all are tax-deductible.
Give a little, give a lot, give local, Give Grandly! For more information, visit www.givegrandly.org.
