DEMING - In a move to enhance the learning environment and address aging infrastructure, the Deming Public School District has announced plans to install new Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units at Columbus Elementary School. Jorge Au, Director of Construction at Deming Public Schools, shared with Deming Radio News that the decision to replace the old geo-thermal unit at the school was imperative due to its outdated condition.
The crucial funding for the HVAC unit upgrades stems from the recent passage of the district's general obligation bond. Local voters overwhelmingly supported the continuation bond during the fall, demonstrating a commitment to investing in the improvement of educational facilities.
In addition to Columbus Elementary School, Au revealed that Memorial Elementary will also benefit from a new HVAC unit and a much-needed roof replacement. Meanwhile, My Little School is set to undergo an expansion, creating an auditorium or gymnasium for its students. As part of a comprehensive security initiative, all schools in the district, including administration buildings, have had permanent security film applied to all windows.
Jorge Au expressed his gratitude to the community for their support, emphasizing that these upgrades are a direct result of the successful continuation bond. He underscored the importance of these improvements in providing a conducive and secure learning environment for students across the district.
The Deming Public School District is committed to fostering a positive and safe educational experience for students, and these infrastructure upgrades represent a significant step toward achieving that goal. The continued support from the community ensures that schools in the district can provide modern and efficient facilities for the benefit of all students and staff.
