DEMING – The Deming Public Early College High School is set to relocate to 720 W. Buckeye St., the former site of Mimbres Valley High School. The move will take effect starting today, Monday, October 23rd.
The Early College High School classes and offices are currently housed at the Mimbres Valley Learning Center. However, with the construction of a new campus by Western New Mexico University near the current Deming High School, a change in location was deemed necessary.
Deming Public School Superintendent, Vicki Chavez, informed Deming Radio News that the relocation had been in the pipeline for some time. The decision was influenced by Western New Mexico University’s plans to establish a new campus in the vicinity.
Initially, Early College High School classes will be conducted in modular classrooms. However, there is hope that future plans to construct new facilities to accommodate this integral part of the Deming Public School System will eventually become reality.
Chavez expressed optimism that the proximity of the Early College High to the High School will facilitate easy access for students to classes on the High School Campus. This would eliminate the need for students to be bussed back to the High School.
