DEMING – Early Monday morning, Deming police were called to the 200 block of South Tin Street, regarding a burglary in progress.
Deming Police Chief Clint Hogan told Deming Radio News that the call came into the department at about 6:25 a.m. Monday morning. When officers arrived at the home, they heard a shower running and music playing.
A motorcycle that was found to be stolen from Nevada, was found in the backyard of the residence.
Police heard a female inside the residence alerting the other occupant that officers were outside.
Officers set up a perimeter and began to order the occupants outside. After no response, the Special Response Team (SRT) was activated and upon arrival, the subjects opened the back door and surrendered without incident.
Manuel Lopez, age 40, and Serena Daniels, age 21, were both taken into custody and charged with burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
The two are currently being held at the Luna County Detention Center.
