DEMING - Chief of Police Clint Hogan, a long-time figure in the Deming Police Department, is bidding farewell after an illustrious career spanning over 22 years. Hogan's official retirement is slated for January 31, 2024.
Hogan's journey in law enforcement commenced in 2002 upon his graduation from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy (NMLEA) in Santa Fe. Throughout the years, he assumed pivotal roles within the department, ranging from Patrol Officer to the Criminal Investigation Division and various administrative positions, including Administrative Captain, Patrol Captain, culminating in his role as Chief of Police.
Reflecting on his motivations for entering law enforcement, Hogan shared, "I wanted to make a difference and create a safer environment for my children and the community. Through the collective efforts of everyone in this department, we were able to effect change and make a lasting impact."
As Hogan looks forward to retirement, he envisions a tranquil future. His plans include travel, the restoration of his father's Chevy truck, and embracing a well-deserved "normal life." When asked about advice for aspiring law enforcement officers, he emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and striking a harmonious balance between work and family. Additionally, he encouraged officers to treat everyone with respect while remaining steadfast in their duty to ensure the well-being of all.
In honor of Chief Hogan's retirement, the Deming Police Department is organizing a “last call” event on January 23, 2024, at 12:00 pm. This event will feature one final ride across the city, concluding at City Hall, 1275 E. Pine Street, where his ultimate call for service will take place.
The community is invited to join and celebrate Chief Hogan's dedicated service to Deming.
