As outlined in the official agenda, the meeting will address both old business, specifically Resolution number 24-14, and new business, Resolution number 24-15. Both resolutions are directly related to the fate of the Mimbres Peaks Monument, a topic of significant debate in the community.
A motion and vote will be conducted on both resolutions during the meeting. County Manager Chris Brice informed Deming Radio News that the first resolution, expressing opposition to the monument, was tabled during last month's meeting and will be revisited and addressed today.
The second resolution, 24-15, provides a detailed account of the County Commission's strong opposition to the establishment of the Mimbres Peaks Monument.
The meeting will take place at the Historic Luna County Courthouse, located at 700 South Silver Street, on the third floor in the Commission Chambers. Notably, County Manager Chris Brice will be absent from the meeting as he is currently attending the 30-day State Legislature session in Santa Fe.
