DEMING - The City of Deming, in collaboration with Deming Luna County Economic Development, NM Workforce Connection, and Deming High School Senior Army Instructor of Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, recently organized a transformative workshop for JROTC students at Deming High School. This joint effort aimed to provide a valuable learning experience and equip students with essential life skills.
The "Own Your Future" workshop, a key component of this initiative, sought to create opportunities for personal and professional growth. The event also aimed to foster connections between local businesses and the emerging workforce.
The workshop covered crucial aspects such as dressing for success, basic interview skills, understanding available workforce systems, and exploring various career paths. These skills are fundamental in helping students make a strong first impression and navigate the professional world with confidence.
Distinguished guest speakers for the day included Gabe Dominguez, Business Owner of Gabe’s Gym, and Justin Porter, Deputy Warden at Luna County Detention Center. Both speakers shared their wealth of knowledge and experiences, delivering inspiring messages about making positive life choices to shape the students' futures. Their words resonated with the attendees, emphasizing the significance of proactive decision-making in taking ownership of one's future.
The collaborative effort showcased the commitment of the community and local organizations to invest in the development of young minds, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in both their personal and professional lives.
