
DEMING – The 77th annual Southwestern New Mexico State Fair wrapped up Sunday.
The Junior Livestock Auction raised over $213,000 and had 45 market animals and one cake.

Steer raised by Daniella Lopez-Gallegos sold to Smith Ford for $8,800
Lamb raised by Addison Schulke sold to RioSol for $3,200
Hog raided by Rance Bookout sold to Smith Ford for $3,350.
Goat raised by Kendahl Bingham sold to MVF/Midpoint Equine
Turkey raised by Eithon Garcia sold to Pepper’s for $1, 150.
Rabbit raised by Aubry Pena sold to Ramon’s Towing for $2,600
Cake baked by Emilie McGinnis sold to Legacy Escrow for $1,150
Also, over $70,000 in local We Care funds were distributed to local 4-H participants.
County Extension Agent Jack Blandford told Deming Radio News that the youth save the money for next year’s animals and often for college tuition.
