Fred Williams Fred Williams

Fred’s Country Music Time Machine is from the imagination of Fred Williams who wanted to air good country music from times past. After a lifetime of listening to “hillbilly”, early country music, bluegrass, cajun, western swing, and other musical forms of our country, he realized that now young people were not able to hear good examples of different types of our music. The KOTS radio management responded very positively to providing airtime for a locally produced show, and Deming’s Suncrest Realty quickly agreed to sponsorship. Recently, the station has provided an internet outlet for The Time Machine.
Fred, in addition to enjoying music had two fine bluegrass bands while he was a Professor of Microbiology at Iowa State University. Along with a small group of colleagues he created a short course in the “History and Development of American Country Music”. He met several early country music professionals and learned from them it was possible to make great music and be nice, kind, people as well. With this background, Fred tries to interject bits of personal knowledge about the music and musicians that come out of the Time Machine.
