The Silver Spikes lobbying group is comprised of business owners and managers, elected officials, educators and government employees who are interested in the economic development of the area.
The group, which travels to Santa Fe during each legislative session, is scheduled to meet with Governor Susana Martinez and a slate of cabinet secretaries and elected officials Thursday.
A media release listed some of the priorities for the group as the Arizona Water Settlement Act, the Affordable Health Care Act, Medicaid increases, renewable energy, economic development, and education issues including performance pay, third-grade reading tests, vocational education and adult education.
Silver Spikes Treasurer Mary Lou Cameron said the trip is an opportunity to be heard at the state level about local needs.
The Silver Spikes will host a reception Thursday evening for legislative leaders as well.
