Nancy Patterson, DPS Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, said the newly created position of director of services for migrant and homeless students has been filled by Hector Madrid. Madrid served for the past eight years as Columbus principal, and previously retired as Deming superintendent of schools after serving for years as the high school principal.
Marlene Padron, former Bell Elementary principal who most recently served as academic dean at Columbus Elementary, is the new Bataan Elementary principal.
And Connie Maag, the instructional leader at Torres Elementary, has been promoted to Torres principal.
Patterson said they are advertising for another new position – district analyst – to work with Ray Trejo in his role as director of student services, a newly created administrative position designed to work with students, parents and principals to analyze and overcome student achievement gaps.
Patterson said they also created a new secretarial position in food services.
She added that they are interviewing for a high school assistant principal, the position vacated when Herb Borden was promoted to director of transportation and construction.
And they will need to fill the instructional leader’s position at Torres Elementary, vacated with the promotion of Maag to principal.
