Following Luna County in the list of New Mexico counties with the worst unemployment is Mora County with 14-point-eight percent unemployment... and Guadalupe at 10-point-8 percent. Those were the only three counties in the state with unemployment greater than 10-percent.
Rounding out the top five are Torrance at nine-point-one percent... and Catron at nine-percent.
In our area... Grant County was at seven-point-seven percent unemployment in January... Hidalgo County was at six-point-two... and the Las Cruces area was at seven-point-six.
The county with the least unemployment remains Los Alamos with three-point-four percent.
The state unemployment rate for January -- at seven-point-three percent -- was up from the six-point-six percent rate in December. The seasonally adjusted rate for both months was seven-percent even.
The New Mexico labor force estimates show Luna County with a labor force of 11-thousand-854 -- with nine-thousand-487 employed... and two-thousand-367 unemployed.
