The meeting notice indicates the commissioners are considering a proclamation declaring extreme or severe drought conditions within the unincorporated portions of Luna County that would restrict the sale and use of fireworks within those portions.
The hearing will be held during the commissioner’s regular monthly meeting, set to begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.
The commissioners also will consider adopting a burn ordinance, and will call for an ordinance for notice of intent to adopt a gross receipts tax revenue bond.
Also on the agenda are multi-services agreements with the city of Deming and Village of Columbus… a ground lease agreement with Walgreens… a lease agreement with Western New Mexico University… an addendum to the agreement with Sunnyside Farms, Inc.… a resolution supporting the Southwest NM Energy and Green Jobs Task Force’s regional strategic plan… a professional services agreement with Presbyterian Medical Services for the primary care clinic… a work and financial plan with USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services… and a DWI grant agreement with the NM Department of Finance and Administration.
White Sands Missile Range Chief of Staff Dan Hicks will give a presentation, and service awards will be given to Estela Chavez for 10 years with the Assessor’s office and to Trini Garcia and Albert Mora for five years each with the Sheriff’s Department.
Again, the commission meeting is set to begin at 9 a.m. Thursday in the commission chambers, located on the third floor of the Luna County Courthouse.
